Hi,

The transformers and chokes are all Partridge.:yahoo:

Original GEC KT 88's,and Telefunken ECC82 and ECC83 tubes.:yahoo:

The GEC preamp has a wired remote.

The Garrard 301/SME3012 are fitted to the SME type sprung plinth.

Came with a new SHURE V15.:yahoo:

All the equipment was apparently working before it was stored away several years ago.Lot of dust and grime on the amps, will need a complete strip and rebuild. The oil PSU cap (CORNELL DUBILER) seem OK but the TCC Electrolytics are certainly gone and the Hunts coupling caps, are also bound to be faulty

All of it is still in the car.The hard part is getting it all into the house without the significant other finding out that there are a couple more amps that need restoration in the house.

Regards
Rajiv

Great find rajiv !
I hope you enjoy the restoration ! I envy the telefunken ECC83 ;)

Hi Rajiv. Great stuff. If you ever want to sell the GEC KT 88 tubes i would be interested.

Lucky you. Most of us just have lowly mosfet amps in our car trunk :-)
Quad, Lol, right you are!

Rajiv, A Linn and a Garard, and that fantastic Lyrita- Altec combo, why would you even step out of that room!
Isn't Steven working on one too?

Hi,

Thanks Guys.

Did a little research on the amps last evening.

They are the GEC "88-50" amplifiers. Thanks for the circuit Prasad.

I will do a basic rebuild of the amps first and then find a better circuit to use the Partridge Transformers in.The 88-50 front end can easily be bettered.

Regards
Rajiv

Hello Rajiv well looks like there are two of a kind of the gerrad and the SME 3012 , i havnt used the same for many years but i do have the same lying around the house somewhere along with a couple of tubes etc i do also have the shure catridges and their styluses not to sure i might be using them in the near future though your post has certainly brought back memories from the past and from what i do recollect the same used to sound phenomenal
cheers

Hey Rajiv
If you dont have a need for the GE KT 88 and the ECC83 valves, I will be happy to buy them off for a DIY valve kit I am commencing.
Please PM me the price if interested.

Thanks

Hi,

Prasad, I replaced all capacitors, resistors and the wiring . Used only Keltron and CTR.Once the amps are up and running I plan to change them out with better components and maybe modify the input section.

The components have all been soldered on to the tag board. They have to be fitted back onto the chasis.Wanted to repaint the chasis, but might just pass on it.

The amps are actually at a friends place, and he is helping me rebuild them. Hopefully they should be done soon.

@Gobble,the GEC KT 88's and ECC 83's are not for sale. They are all used valves and not NOS.

Regards
Rajiv
