Dear All,

I am trying to play a 1080p video file in MKV Format in a Computer having the following specification:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.40Ghz
Physical RAM : 2GB
Video Graphics : NVIDEA GeForce 9400GT (512 MB RAM)
Realtek In built Audio Card for Intel Motherboard.
LG W2043T 20 Inch LCD Display.

The problem is I cannot play the video file as there are lots of jerk and momentary pause as the 1080p file plays; I am using the VLC Player to play the file. I have no problem in 720p file but 1080p will not play smoothly.

Which hardware/software is creating the problem?

Kindly help.
Thanks.:)

i had the same issue deba for 1080p files..vlc does not support files for that size... get wmp classin and k lite codec pack... and that shud fix it.

Hi Deba,

TheIronhorse had the same problem exactly and he was able to successfully fix it after updating the codec. Your hardware components are decent enough to handle 1080p content, you need a good player with suitable codec.

Cheers!

Its not the case as vlc plays 1080p perfectly in my PC.But vlc fails many times. So changing the player & updating drivers shld work.

Try Media Player Classic Free-Codecs.com :: Download Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1 : Media Player Classic is an enhanced version of Media Player 6.4

Million Thanks to all of you and especially to Kittu1977....I have installed the KM Player and can play the 1080p file without any problem........8-))

It all boils down to codecs. VLC plays 1080P quite nicely, been using it for last 4years now. you just need to install Klite codec pack as suggested earlier. When you installed KM player it installed codecs for you as well. which in turn helped you play the HD content.
Another good player for HD content would be Power DVD which is a paid software, but those who want there are ways to get it free as well. :-)

The KM player is nice, but it is not being actively developed anymore. And the last version has some nasty crash bugs. I used to use it too, till I found Splayer, which is what I use now. It uses hardware graphics acceleration, BTW.

Contrary to many of the suggestions here, I would suggest not messing about with various codec packs. Install about 3 to 4 players out of VLC, TheKMPlayer, SMPlayer (an MPlayer port) and GOMPlayer. There is always the MPCHC - Media Player Classic Home Cinema edition.

With these options you will not need to install stand alone codec packs - hopefully :).
