I live in a rented home so for the time being I cannot setup a dedicated HT room. My doubt is it worth spending up Rs.1 Lakh for a decent 5.1 system without any room acoustics, carpeting, etc., Whatever we setup up its going to sound flat with the sound bouncing & reflecting. I am right now on 3 channel(FR+CR) My suggestion would be guys having HT on living room should stick with 3.1...Can you guys share your views on this

PS Sonic,

You could wait until you get settled to Own a Full fetched HT.

But For getting 100% OF ht, Yous surely need a Big or even Reasonable room.

IMHO, Center+R L Rear will do the best in a small room.
So Wats yout room size and the components used (With Photo in positions)

Just post them here, would be able to suggest, On whether its worth to spend for HT at time point of time or How to improve the SQ out of your current Set-up.

Better SQ come not only with Physical Upgrade sometimes the Logical Upgrade too.

You have lot of concerns don't you? :D

Actually its the other way round. With acoustic treatment, we are trying to control the reflections, reverberations etc and make the sound flat.

I think carpet is neither too expensive or difficult to buy. It is good to have one in front of your speakers. Your landlord will not bother I hope.

There are many members here who have expensive HT without proper treatment done and I guess they are quite happy with it. 3.1 or 5.1 has nothing to do with room acoustics. Without surround channels, your HT is definitely incomplete. So stop worrying too much, buy what you liked and start enjoying ( you can / will always improve things later).

Thats the Good One. I try the best out of current One and if not satisfied move and spend some money to grade-up

To be Frank ,I Love SVS probably With some effort, I can Own it. But am in Rented House with 10*12 room.

So for sure i will miss what i expect also damage my Purse too.

But IF PS_Sonic has enough Space probably, he could give a Try- I have seen 12*16 OR Even 12*12 Should be fine to bare 1Lakh HT but Not Less than that.:ohyeah:

There's no reason to limit oneself to a 3.1 set-up. My first living room set-up in a rented apartment was 7.1 (my seating was 5 feet from the back wall, so I put a pair of surrounds directly to my sides and another pair behind me). If my seating would have been against the back wall, then I would at least do a 5.1 set-up (with the surround speakers in the back corners of the room).

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
