Hi guys

I want to buy a TV and my budget is around 34k.

Suggest me whether to buy a 32 inch Full HD or Panasonic 42X20D Plasma.

TV will be used mainly for watching HD movies.

Please help me out..

Always go for a bigger screen, plasma is better compared to lcd, take a bit additional care for initial burnin period,be concern to get 3 years warrenty with panny.

Hi John,

I was in the same dilemma few month back , I was already using panasonic 42S20D and wanted another TV , I bought LG 32" (don't remember the model exactly but it was some LG 460 ) from a dealer on one condition that if i am not satisfied with the screen size i will change it with in 2 days.
And when finally it was installed in bedroom everybody was saying (Bahut chota TV hai ), as in the same room i was 29" tv and also have 42 " (LCD and plasma ) in other rooms.
So i got it changed next day and bought LG 42" Plasma .

In short , If your room can accommodate a 42" then without doubt Go for plasma ( becoz of cost benefit etc ).

John,
if you want to hook it up to computer, LCD. look no further.
if you viewing is mostly in a well lighted condition then also LCD.
if you prefer better pic quality and have somewhat controlled lighting, then plasma.
Take it for granted that plasma has a better pic quality (in dark environment). In case of Toshiba LCD, just have a look at any showroom, and see if that picture quality is good enough for your viewing pleasure. Dont go with the shop's setting. Try changing to your taste and check.
Even I was trying to choose between pana x20 and toshi 40v700, then I decided to stick with CRT for now(what a lamer!)

I agree with one of the earlier posts. Bigger is Better. If your viewing distance is less than 10 feet, you might want to think of an LCD. Else a Plasma is far superior.

Bigger is definitely better but can you make out the difference between 40 and 42 inches? I couldn't - in the showroom.

I really think of the following size ranges (as upgrades) as discernible - <30", 30-46", 50-75", 100" (projectors).

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
