I've been looking into 3D TV's lately but I really don't want active shutter glasses. Is LG a good brand for TV?

If you are averse to active 3D, you have no choice other than LG (wide range of passive 3D in the Cinema 3D models) or Panasonic ET5.

Just if you consider 3D, LG passive 3DTV's are pretty good but if you compare picture quality attributes like contrast, black levels, color accuracy, screen uniformity etc LG falls a long way behind Panasonic, Samsung & Sony. Also it does not help that LG LED TV's are priced a lot more than they deserve and you can get premium 3D plasma TV's for that cost...

LG uses passive glasses in their 3d Tvs and they are said to be among the best if there is a comparison between the active and passive glasses.
Samsung is said to have good picture quality and sony a better life.
So its all upto what you prefer.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
