I have a LG 3D TV installed in my drawing room. Even though I am happy with the product, the low levels of volume kind of eats into the whole 3D experience. Any guidance on how it can be improved?

Since 3D TVs are so slim so Sound problem has always been there with them. Using external speakers would be the only solution to your query..

Not just 3D TVs. The sound issue is with all flat panel TVs of today. With a panel depth of only 1-2 cm, how far better can the speaker with such limited depth sound? With the LCD TVs of 2 years ago, the depth was much more around 4 inches or so. Even those did not yield booming sound.

Yeah..agreed to your point but don't you think these are a negative side for TV manufacturers these days..
They should think something to sort this out...

You are thinking like your name - Indian. :) :)

In the US, people use large screen TVs and augment it with an HT - sometimes even the most basic HT. TV manufacturers can't do much about it unless someone developes thin speakers that yield booming sound.

Manufacturers ARE doing something for it!! They are selling surround systems at discount with flat panel TVs. :)

Ha! Ha! You mean offloading dead stock? But an entry level HTiB is not a bad idea. But some people may face issues in proper physical installation. By this, I don't mean connecting, etc. (even that could be an issue) but they may not have space to place speakers, the sub-woofer is bulky, etc. I faced the same issue in my bedroom - no proper place for the SW.

Where there is a will, there is a way. I have a 2007 model Philips 9 series 47" LCD (~4" depth) with all bells and whistles. It has 6 speakers (2 main speakers + 2 woofers and 2 tweeters) and the sound from it is pretty decent for normal tv watching.

If your drawing room area is large, then the best option will be to get a Home Theatre installed along with your TV set. It will be a one-time investment that will definitely improve your 3D viewing experience.

I think you better get a sound bar or a HT as mentioned by others. This way you can offset low sound nature of your flat panel

5.1 is a definite recommendation for all flat panels...

If the room size is small, there are tiny 5.1 speakers which also gives better sound than the TV itself.

If its large, there are plenty of options out in the market.
