42 Inch TV (FHD)

My hunt for a 42" tv (FHD) is going to start from today, my budget is 60K and PQ is the main criteria.

First choice is Panasonic V20, could you please suggest other TV models to checkout before making the final call.

3d technology is evolving and it may take some time for the said technology to stabilise. In a year or two, 3d tvs without the need to wear 3d glasses, at a reasonable price will be released.


Hence is it advisable to go for v20 instead of d550 may be evaluated before taking a call.

BTW what is the price quoted by the vendor for v20?

The overall impact from the extra 11" of screen will be far greater than the incremental picture quality difference between the 42" V20 and the 51" D550. From a regular distance of 9 - 12 feet, you can't even percieve the extra resolution of Full HD let alone discern minute quality differences. I would advice you to not 'waste', yes wate you r money on the over priced Panasonic 42" V20 and instead get the Samsung 50" D550.

PS: Think of the 3D as a free bonus and to be honest, 3D does have it's charm too for a once in a while experience.

Hi if picture quality is the main criteria then check Sonys Ex500. It was awarded the best 40 inch tv of 2010 by What hifi magazine. It also got 5/5 in 32 and 46 inch range also. Also check Sonys Ex400, Nx500, Cx520, Ex720 and Ex520 also. If you dont mind buying without bill then the price for Cx520, Ex720 and Ex520 is much cheaper. Cx520 - 40inch - 40k, Cx520 - 46inch - 55k, Ex520 - 40inch - 50k, Ex520 - 46inch - 70k, Ex720 - 40inch - 65k, Ex720 - 46inch - 80k. If you want a Samsung tv then as mentioned by our Hifi friends Samsung plasma d550 is not bad at all. If you want Panasonic then 46 U20 plasma - 63500, 42 V20 plasma - 64500, D22 LED - 69000.
