Since you don't need 3D, go for the Panasonic TH-P42U30D - Excellent PQ. It is definitely VFM.

Hi, may i ask would you consider upgrading to 50inches? reason being 50 is the ideal size to truly enjoy a cinema experience at home since budget is not a constraint.

Let me give you some of the best plasma tv's:

2D : Panasonic V20
3D : Panasonic VT30, VT20, GT30, ST30

All the above tv's have panasonic's proprietary neo pdp panels and come in 42 and 50 inch sizes. FYI the V20 was rated the best tv of 2010 and the VT30 is rated as one of the best if not the best tv's of 2011.

If need be, I could get all technical and explain the finer details but you cant go wrong with any of the above tv's. there are loads of reviews on the net you can study but here are a few sites:

Thanks for the replies guys, i have a few doubts that i would really appreciate if someone could clarify them for me.

Firstly, which are the 2011 models of Panasonic and which one are the 2010 models.
Secondly, is there any plama from 2011 range of LG plasma's that would be recommendable

Thanks once again for replying

30 series are 2011 year plasmas. 20 series are last year's.

aakashr,

I have been reading your various posts. All are very informative. Thank you for your valuable inputs. I also looking for a LCD and also shortlisted the Sony 40" BX420 and Samsung 40D550. Which of these can bought? the prices are Sony Rs. 47,000/- and Sammy is Rs. 45,000/-

I have been reading recently in these forum and especially from you that Plasmas are a way to go for cinematic experience. So, please advise me whether to go for the LCDs or Panasonic Plasmas? My Budget is Rs. 45,000/- may be a little more:indifferent14:.

Please guide me. I going to place the TV in bright room. There are Windows opposite to and also windows left side of the place where TV is to be placed. So, any reflection issue is there?

Thank you once again for your valuable inputs.:clapping: Please guide me.

panasonic 2010 (neo pdp) : VT20, V20
panasonic 2011 (neo pdp) : VT30, GT30, ST30,
(non neo pdp) : U30, X30

the only LG plasma that is also good is LG 50PZ550............but I would go with any of the panasonic series with neo pdp panels. If you are unable to due to budget constraint, then look at samsung/lg.

The benefits of plasma over LCD's.
The blacks on plasma are inky blacks, almost like CRT tvs. Blacks on LCD tvs are mostly shades of gray, never inky blacks. Because the plasma blacks are very good, it has good intra-scene contrast too. LCD has high contrast nos, but these are inflated, dynamic nos, almost made to look great.
Another huge benefit of plasma is fast panels. This results in very good, fluid motion compared to LCDs. More evident when you see fast paced sports.

well said.........nice to see a fellow member who also feels the same way. I keep trying to educate members on the plasma vs lcd debate.
