Dear all I had almost decided about 50PK550 Model. But yesterday I visited a small electronic store Here and I found the Pk550 and the 42LH90 kept side by side. I was amazed to see the black levels on LH90. I felt in few scenes of Avtar movie it was giving better PQ and blacks than PK550.
Now the problem is the 42LH90 model that store was having is the only piece and its a demo piece. I dont know for how long it is there for demo. The price they are quoting is 68K for 42Lh90 and 62K for 50PK550.
My wife was more tempted towards the LH90 model as she doesnt need to bother about the break-in period and all.
I'm really confused guys please help me. My viewing distance is aboutt 10-12ft so both the sizes suits to me.
Any Idea what could be the problem of demo pieces?
Awaiting you replies.

Pickup LH90..

Demo piece LCD/LED is not as bad as demo piece plasma as the former are not susceptible to burn-in or TIR. Just make sure it is not the kind of shop where the salesmen throw soft-balls at the screens to demonstrate durability. And check the piece thoroughly for any defects. If everything is good then try and get an additional discount seeing as it is a demo piece and all. Just don't look too excited in front of them or else they will not give you any discount.

I am not sure if your comparison/observation between these two TVs is true, unless both the TVs are operating at their best settings. I advise anytime to buy the latest models.

LH90 being old model, it might be running at the showroom for a longtime; even though you get an year warranty, you will be at the loosing side as the TV may fail after an year (e.g.compared to a failure after 2 years if it were new). If you still want to buy the demo piece you should be getting a significant discount, may be 50%. Note that it is a old model as well as a demo piece.

Also I doubt if any company would make bad models compared to previous generation products. LH90 might be best TV in 2009, and it doesn't mean it is still good in 2010 to buy.

If at all you are getting it at a rather cheap, then you may think about it. Again, it all depends on your way of thinking, this my opinion.

Firstly you are comparing two different types of tvs LED VS Plasma..

And Demo piece VS new ..

Your viewing distance is good enough for a 50 inch.....no doubt.... But that small store which has only one display unit of LH90 will they be providing enough support or replacement for LH90 incase of issues (being its outdated).

If you have a normal lit room even your PK plamsa will give you a killer quality of picture..

My take bargain well on LH90 and get it as low as you can... Or else go for 50pk series... Again you have to be a TV geek to explore the features and the best out of plasma... like running breakin slides , burn in , playing with settings often...etc..

So give it a thought. And since your wife also liked the LH90 .. why dont you bargain more and see if you can get it arround 62 or 63 ...

Just my 2 bits...

42LH90 used to sell for 62-63k brand new. For a demo piece, there's no point paying more than 50k. Please check the number of hours it has been used before committing.

I found a demo piece Philips 42PFL9703 with 200 odd hours on it and bargained hard. Finally managed to snag it for 56k which is less than half the price it originally retailed for. Demo piece is as good as used. Do not pay brand new money for it.

Yep and specially considering that these guys crank up the brightness/contrast/gamma settings, and the unit might be on for 10 hours a day. Which means the backlight LED matrix has depreciated a bit. You should drive a really hard bargain, like 55-58K. I'm a PK owner, and after seeing the PQ on my telly, my friends who have large screen LCDs have regrets buying theirs. I'm still on breakin period, and trust me. it's not as geeky as some folks would have u believe. I just avoid too much news, and play letterbox movies in fullscreen mode and HUD-free games.

I would say judging from your viewing distance, the PK makes more sense...your call.

Thanks fo suggestions frinds:) . Ahhh Yesterday we visited panasonic brand shop and got a dem of 42v20 ane belave me the PQ was best so far. Although I've not compared with other models like LH90 or PK550 but it looked btter than them. The price offer I got was 66K. So I'm again back to square:sad:.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
