Hello,
I am looking to buy LCD or led TV in the next week. I want to buy 46 to 50 inches as my viewing distance is around 12 feet. My only criteria is thatthe tv should be full hd (maybe HD ready will be good enuf but for peace of mind I prefer full hd). I am not interested in 3d or smart tv. :)
My budget is around 60 to 70k with lower preferred.
I did a round of various shops in Pune and shortlisted some TVs
Panasonic THL50EM5D: This seems to be best option as it 50 inch led LCD tv with full HD and decent ports and playback options. It is available for75k from Vijay sales and comes with a free Toshiba 23 inch LCD worth 15k!!! The picture quality was also good. My only worry is that how come it is available so cheap when compared to other TVs? :o
Samsung 46Eh5000: Available for 65k from reliance digital
Sony 46EX460: For 75k from various shops
Toshiba 46PB 20: Cheapest option at only 54k and 3years warranty
I am planning to go for either the Panasonic or the Toshiba. Any reviews or opinions about theses TVs especially the panasonic?
Also are there any other options I can consider?

Thanks a lot

They are all available for demo.. please demo them and arrive at a decision based on your experience with the PQ.. All things equal, go for the Pana one.. as You will get 4 inch extra.. for a full HD tv bigger is better.. and you viewing distance also demands a bigger one..

I would agree with Manzb on this. Panasonic makes more sense. However as a word of caution, I have come across in this forum more than once that Panasonic has pathetic after sales.

Personally I would veer towards LG or Sony provided they come in the budget that you have in mind.

Thanks for your reply. I did demo them and found that they had comparable quality but truth be told I am no videophile and hence asking for opinions here :)

I have almost finalized on the Pana but a small nagging doubt is why is this TV so much cheaper than the competition.

My next option is to go for the Toshiba, however not sure after sales for that as well.
The third option is the Samsung

THL50EM5D is a 50Hz TV and yes, has no frills or 3D. So, the price is correct. (Yes, if you deduct the price of free TV @15k, it is a good price (but not cheap)..). But you know, motion rate does matter and on a big screen like this, it becomes apparent after seeing for some time. (Even for non videophiles like us). Then again, other TV's you mentioned, 46EH5300 has 100hz CMR and wireless too. So, if can haggle and bring down it's price, i think it can be good option too..

Does motion rate matter so much? I am having second thought about the Panasonic - going to Vijay Sales to demo again.

I am interested in 46 inch LED/LCD/Plasma (Full HD).
any current offer or promotions going on in Bangalore?
Please let me know..

BTW I have heard that Panasonic is going to stop plasma TV in india..
is this true? I am really impressed with their neoplasma panels series.

Panasonic has announced new plasma models for USA in CES this Jan. Whether they will make out to India is uncertain. But Panasonic had not pulled the plug on plasma as yet.

I purchased the Panasonic yesterday. I am quite happy with the picture quality. Now looking for a sound bar or home theater :)

I played the good, the bad and the ugly - the picture is just amazing on 50".
However the tv is another house where I have not shifted yet - so no detailed tests yet. I will update here later.

I read some good reviews of the Harmony/Logic3 Sound Stage.
Does anyone have it here in India?

Please post an ownership thread. It will help potential buyers like me.
Somehow the reviews of Panasonic LED's for any model never fetch more than 3 starts (out of 5).

So, first hand perspective will be very welcome.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
