Hi ,
I want to buy a 5.1 Channel Home theater system. My budget is 35-50k. I am in Bangalore. I do not have much knowledge about home theater/ required features and need help in finalizing the system as well as the best rate at which I can get that. I want to finalize this during next one week and any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks
Mayank

Denon 1513 AVR + Boston Acoustics XS 5.1 speaker system should be around 50K.
For 30-35K, you can consider Denon 1312XP, Yamaha 298, Onkyo 3500 or 4505 etc.

Wharfedale MS-100 with Denon 1513 or Yamaha 373 as per your preference. Boston Acoustics can sound harsh & MS-100 sounds warm which I prefer.

Hi,

I've got similar budget as that of mayank_ca24. However, what I learnt on this forum was that buying a separate AV receiver and speakers is a better option in comparison to HTiB at least from sound quality perspective.

Also, my preference is more towards listening music than movies so I would like to go for separates only.

Please can someone suggest a good combination within this budget? Or people with this budget need to be accommodated within HTiB models? I don't want to go by gradually building your system approach.

No in this budget you can get definitely AVR + Speakers. If you like to listen to music then don't buy HTiB. But I would recommend you to audition Marantz AVRs, they are very balanced and musical.
I'm using Wharfedale MS 100 HCP with Denon. I choose Denon because I like cinematic sound. But if you use it with Yamaha V 373 then, its perfect for music. The Wharfedale MS 100 is very good for music. Especially after initial burn-in period, the speakers shine.

Here is my review > http://www.hifivision.com/home-theater/35407-denon-1513-wharfedale-ms-100-speaker.html

Wharfedale Moviestar MS-100 HCP Home Theatre Cinema Package

Yes, Sukhi Gill is correct. Wharfedale MS 100 HCP is better than Boston Acoustics XS 5.1.

No worries buddy... Take your time to finalize, don't rush...

If you plan to buy a new receiver in india..The bare minimum you need is 20K...Entry level receiver..

There are plenty of options...Let me give you an other suggestion here....

Think whether you need HDMI connection...If you will be playing mostly movies from a blu ray player, then you will need a Receiver with HDMI connection...If you won't play movies, you can very well settle for a Non HDMI receiver for 10 - 15K Max.

For the remaining 35K, i would like to suggest Sonodyne Sonus range of speakers...Easy on the pocket.....

Sonodyne Sonus 1501 BS (11K) + Sonus C2401 (5K) + Sonus Rear's Dipoles (13K)...You may later add a sub-woofer from them for 15K (Roar 108)..

Now this is a proper BS combo speakers...So stereo listening will be good even without a Sub....

This way you can play movies with DTS/DD sound track and strike a balance with stereo content too...

Think abt it & choose...
