50K is good budget... But def not enough to buy a new AVR & New speakers... Because brand new AVR's cost a bare minimum 25 - 30K.... With the remaining 25K, you can't find a good speaker package... You will need to make lot of compromise on speaker performance...

From the gadgets that you own, i see that you own a Bluray Player & Videocon STB..... Do you watch more of a Bluray discs (or) Blu ray Rips ?....

Choosing an amplifier depends on your usage....If you plan to watch only Blu ray rips, then a non HDMI (Used receiver) is a good option to build your system... You can easily get a Midrange AVR/ High end one for 10 - 15K...

Now the remaining 35K for the speakers...

Some brands that you conisder are Sonodyne Sonus 1501 BS (11K) + Sonus C2501 (7K) + Sonus Rears (12K) + Subwoofer of your choice for 15K... This is the cheapest (By price)...

You may also consider Polk Tsi/Tsx series, PSB Alpha series & Cambridge S30 speakers which will cost lil more than this...

Weigh your options & then decide....

First of all thank you for your detailed and very Kind response..I mean it :)

From your reply..I can understand I can only buy a new AVR and I have to invest more money on buying good speakers

In that case,,what will be a best best AVR for a beginner like who view Bluray Rips and rarely Blurays ,daily DTH HD channels and ..daily listen to mp3/cd music ?

I can invest a 40K on the AVR and use your suggestion above for buying speakers.. also suggest good sub woofers as well. Can i get a AVR with wifi / bluetooth connectivity in this range..?

Also my friend is coming from US next month..Will that be apt to buy the AMP there ? if it is a 100 V amp..can i use it here ? Please advice.

thanx buddy... Am glad i was able to help you here....

What i meant was any old AVR can do the same job of new AVR minus HD audio formats....

If most of your watching will be Blue ray Rips, old AVR can still do the job.... Even if you want to play Bluray Discs, old AVR can do with Optical (or) Co-axial connection... I am telling you this because, you can buy speakers now, save some money & then invest on your AVR in future...

Anyways if you plan to purchase new AVR from US with help of your friend, here are some links where you can get dual voltage systems... You can save the money on buying step down converter..

Yamaha | Denon | Dual Voltage Audio Video receivers, World Wide voltage 110-220 volt AV Amps

Audio Video Receivers | 220volts Audio Video Receivers | 240 volts Aud

Hello Friends,
i am ANUP from panipat.
i want to upgrade my home theatre subwoofer .presently i am using S506 (JAMO) 5 speakers with SUB200 JAMO. kindly help me to choose good subwoofer of 12" driver within 35k . use 70% movie and rest for indian songs.

I have decided to buy Onkyo TX?NR626 and WHARFEDALE MOVIESTAR MS-100 HCP speakers ....Can the experts let me know if this will be a right combo..

There is a feature of ONKYO NR626 which make me think whether to go for this or not ..

95 Watts per Channel (8 Ohms, 20 Hz 20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2 Channels Driven); 115 Watts per Channel (6 Ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7% THD, 2 Channels Driven)

is 95 watts per channel a very less out put compared to other competitors ?

You may want to try this SVS SB12-NSD, SVS PC12-NSD and decide even though a little bit higher but good reviews.
