I am moving my HT setup to my bedroom which is about 12x10 with a sit out of 4x7.

My current set of speakers (Kef Coda 90/70) are too big for the room. Was thinking of replacing them with sats that can be put on the wall. Don't really want to spend much on it. I would be using Marants 5006 to drive them. Going through some threads here, I have the following shortlists so far -

Boston XS 5.1
Wharfedale Moviestar
Energy Take 5

What else should I consider that is similarly priced?

TIA

hi soulforged

I've no idea how much the speakers you've mentioned cost. however, if your budget is in the 90k range, the new kef 'eggs' (e 305) are a good option. I've just installed a white set in my bedroom and they look and sound great.
btw, I'm also in b'lore, so you're welcome to drop in and check them out.

cheers

Thanks Coaltrain...I've heard the older version of the eggs, they really are nice. However, at this moment, I am not looking for anything that expensive, if I can manage within 40-45K, I'd be happy.

You already have a great contender in Boston XS 5.1.

The only alternate I can also suggest is - Yamaha YHT-299. It has a different sound signature which some like and is cheaper too.

12x10 room with a sit out of 4x7?

Then buying a 5.1 model will be superfluous, and not advised (ears). Especially with small kids. Perhaps, Creative Inspire 2.1 should be fine with safe volume levels.

Hi soulforged,

The Bostons 5.1 would be better and go well with the Marantz 5006. You could look at the S or SE models which would be within 40k or less. There is a another model HTS 2310 which may appeal to you....Key is to demo them personally where possible with your kind of music and movies...

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. There are three things I am trying to avoid -

1. Spend a lot of money ;)
2. Compromise on the audio quality 'big time' (I understand there will be some compromise I need to make)
3. Consume space...

If 1 & 2 are not feasible, I might as well continue with my current setup of Kef Code front & center with MS Carnival surrounds. They have been faithful to me all these years but since I moved the setup to my bedroom, losing out on point #3.

Boston XS5.1 seems to be getting a lot of favorable response, its topping my list right now. I am sure Paradigm would be miles ahead but may not fit my budget (How much is it???).

Any thoughts on Tannoy or JBL sats? There are a couple of packages available in htstore.in. What about Sonodyne Genie?

I want to shortlist a few and then go looking for demos.
