5.1 Surround Sound Not Working from stereo

Hi All,

Last Week, I bought new Onkyo HT S3500. Demo was ok.because He played DTS Master HD.

Installation and setup my self.
I have LG 32 inch tv and Videocon set op box hd.
connection:
STB HDMI => Receiver => TV

I am Getting surround sound effects from channel like star movies, HBO, sun tv etc, But i am not able to hear 5.1 effects from stereo(other channels)

Pls Help Me.

Other channels do not transmit 5.1 signals. Currently only HD channels are having 5.1 signal as part of the offering. Are you looking at a setting up a pseudo surround system where a stereo signal is played through 5.1 speakers? If yes, I would recommend you not to do so as it would not sound good. Play stereo signals through only 2.0 or maybe 2.1 setup and you'd enjoy it more.

Change your mode to Dolby Pro Logic II or DTS 6 Neo on your receiver and you will get your stereo sound from all your 5 speakers.

How can you get true 5.1 when source is 2 channel only?try DSP like others suggested.

Try Dolby PLIIx mode. It can extract 5 channel from 2 channels.

Music is in 2 channel so don't expect real sound in 5.1 mode. In my experience DTS Neo sounds best overall.

If you want to get Stereo through all channels then select Multichannel stereo option. This option is known as "Multichannel stereo" in denon I do not know the equivalent in Onkyo.

Cycle through all listening modes and you definitely will have this option.

Onkyo has that option and with it surround speakers get more gain.
