5.1 Surround sound on Mac Book Pro

My sis wants to gift me a Mac Book Pro (and how can i reject apple product) but wondering whether it supports 5.1 surround sound if i connect it to my denon 1911. Also i don't see any tosilink port , any idea folks ?

Plan is to install XBMC on it and use it to watch MKV BD rips.

U can get it thru HDMI.. Just connect HDMI to AVR..

Pardon my ignorance, so it's like 5.1 sound will pass through to reciever without any loss with this cable ?

Any one installed XBMC on mac ?

The macbook pro also has a mini toslink port for digital out...

Hi, I have the exact setup you need..............i have hooked up my imac running plex to my denon AVR. And yes, I do get 5.1 audio via the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter. HDMI supports 5.1 audio as well as 1080p/24 video. I also use it to watch mkv files and feels awesome. you do not need anything else. Once your cables are hooked up, you need to check audio midi and display settings to ensure everything is good.
