I am a silent spectator of this forum. I must say the quality of content on this forum has evolved greatly over the years.
Now, I have made my mind to go for the 50" Panasonic 3D Plasma. I have a few queries that I am listing serially-

1. I tried calling up a lot of dealers at my place in faridabad but none of them have this model on display. I tried calling Croma situated along Mathura Road but nobody picks up the phone and the place is a good 20 km from my place.
I am thinking to buy this TV from South Delhi. Can somebody guide me to a place in South Delhi who can give me a demo of this model and give a good deal?

2. I think I will need a 3D blu ray player to play the 3D content as well. Panasonic has only one model capable of 3D blu ray. Is it good enough or does it miss a few features?

3. I am also going to buy an Onkyo HTIB. How do I make sure it is compatible with my other equipment so that I don't make a wrong selection? I am still undecided on the model so this will help me decide better.

4. Is it possible to buy all this stuff from the same place to avail a nice combo offer? So as to say, where in South Delhi can I buy Panasonic 3D Plasma, 3D blu ray player and Onkyo both in a good combo deal?

5. Which HD DTH service is the best in terms of picture quality and sound quality and also had a good amount of latest channels?

6. Why doesn't Panasonic give some good 3D packages like Samsung does?

There might be a lot more questions from me as this is my first such purchase and I don't know much about 3D and HDMI 1.2, 1.3, 1.x. Do help me out.

Here are the links to the various products I have in mind-

Buy samsung 51D550 Plasma !! Or else go for Samsung 46D7000 LED !! CNET and televisioninfo.com have reviewed that these TV's have much better 3D compared to ST30. Also ST30 only produces 101.06 cd/m2 brightness while D550 produces 155.32 cd/m2 while D7000 LED produces more than 300cd/m2 !! Brightness levels matter unless you watch with all lights off.

hello dear,

Please do demo/rate comparison of 3D TV's on your own, try to negotiate as much as possible. Samsung 550 and LG 5700 3D TV's are also a good , take a demo first.

As of today there is a post on HIFIVISION that LG bluray player is available for 4990/- only, wait for diwali discounts 3D players will also become a lot cheap, i guess so.

You will need HDMI 1.4 cable for 3D.

Sorry guys, but no, I am not open to suggestions, it is definitely the ST30 for me.
Latest Onkyo htib come with 3D capability. What does it mean? Does it simply mean they come with hdmi 1.4 or is there some other feature included as well?
Please help me with my queries above in the opening post, I still haven't got answers.
Help please.

Guys, another query.
If I use a HD DTH Connection, what kind of sound would it give?
I mean is it true 5.1 or stereo?

If I get an answer, I can decide whether I should get a 5.1 htib or build a good stereo setup for TV viewing.

HD DTH has highly compresses audio and video and even though some DTH operators claim to provide 5.1 it will sound nothing like a Bluray.

3 : HTS-3400 or any Model that lists HDMI 1.4 (which is pretty much all of the ONKYO's except for 2009 models).

As far as Specs go : HDMI 1.4 supports Full HD 3D, Ethernet On HDMI (Network on HDMI), Audio Return Channel and Lip Sync.

ST30 : Has All of the above except Ethernet over HDMI ( You dont have to worry about it, since very few equipments have it anayway to fully utilize it).

HDMI 1.3a supports 3D with 720p, which is what PS3 has.

If you are buying ST30, rest assured that you have the very latest when it comes to technology.

Also do not worry too much about the brightness: 101 cd/m2 is something you will not need to use. If you do need that much of brightness, then you are obviously not kept you TV in the right place. (Also since this TV has anti-glare filters you will not get washout scenario, where ambient light will washout the panel to a light grey).

Now I need to find dealers for Panasonic and Onkyo both under one roof to get a good deal.
Delhi NCR members please help.

Also, please suggest which HD service to go for. I'm looking for best audio and video quality and availability of all latest channels.

There is a Panasonic Brand Showroom in Kalkaji - I bought my TV from there a year ago and got a good price after bargaining. You can try there... The Onkyo showroom is in CR park (almost on the main outer ring road) so within 2-3 km of each other

There are several brand shops in South Delhi but only two are worth going to.

1. Panasonic Brand shop in the Saket Mall complex. I do not recall the name of the particular mall itself but of the three, this is the one which has the DT Cineplex and the Marks &Spencer store in it. The shop itself is on the third floor. They had the 50ST30 on display when I visited them last week. This shop gave me the lowest prices for all of the panels. Ask for Gyan 9999995182.

2. Panasonic Brand shop in Yusuf Sarai. The shop is on the main road coming from AIIMS going towards IIT. Was there yesterday and they had both the 50ST30 and the 50V20 on display one on top of the other. They also have a Panasonic sound bar (with a wireless subwoofer) attached to one of these panels & you may want to check out the same as you are looking at audio enhancement. The Shop's owner/ Manager is quite cooperative and will match any valid quote.

There are 3 other brand shops in South Delhi but two of them do not have the 50" panels on display and while the one in Lajpat Nagar does have it on display their quotes are atrocious.

have a look at the groupbuy initiated for the panasonic 3D 50st.

as for 3D bluray player panasonic has 3 models 110, 210 & 310.

the PQ of all is same they are basically the same models with the following differences-

110 is the basic model and only one being offered in India.

210 differs in thet it is wifienabled while with110 u have to use a wifi dongle if u want wireless net connectivity.

310 has an extra HDMI port and slightly longer wireless range.

i just bought the 310 from amazon usa for $181/- with a free avatar 3D bluray
