Hi all,
Currently I have an offer of Panasonic 50UT50 TV with a Pana SC-XH170 5.1 home theatre thrown in from a dealer.
Need to know if this is a good offer wrt the quality of the home theatre and the price point for the combo.
I am totally new to home theatres and know nothing about them.

The Panasonic home theatre is nothing to speak of. Mediocre at the best. Seek for a BDP instead like I did.

Really? So you think it's a good deal? Considering that online price for xh170 is around 13000 Rs.
So the point is whether is it worth to get xh170 at all if it is a mediocre HT as just4kix suggests.

the 50 UT was around 72k alone before 2 years....locally...

The 50UT50 was introduced last year. Earlier it was UT30 series. 50UT50 at 77K alone is a good price. The plasma TVs do not sell and Panasonic HTiB fares even worse. People go for the jazzier and the more advertised Sony's and Samsung's and even LG's - not that they are better than Panasonic XH170. But my interpretation of "mediocre" could be coloured - what appears ordinary to me may be liked by someone else. If possible audition. Also check what will the TV deal without the HTiB. In my opinion the combo of Panasonic DMP-BDT200 + 50UT50 is a far more better deal.

Actually I am planning to get BDT220 from US as a relative is coming the near future ( I think price is currently 80 $ there) so I don't need it from here. He was offering me 50UT50 for 69K without the offer.
Actually what happened was Infibeam is offering 69K for 50UT50 with an xh20 home theatre for free and this I showed at the showroom. He then reduced the 72K price he quoting earlier to 69K. But he contacted the Pana guys and said that currently there is no offer for Free xh20, so he offered me an xh170 for a combo price of 77K.
Am wondering if I should go for it.
