Hi Friends,

Last two days I'm experiencing a very weird issue in my 6 months old LG LED 3D TV. When I was watching the TV, suddenly the display turned off and the standby light (RED) started flashing, remote and other direct power TV buttons are not working. I've disconnected everything and restarted the tv, It was running for some time, then the same issue repeated. Lodged a complaint in LG customer case and they promptly accepted and ready to send the eng. today. As I read the something over internet, It could be due to the faulty voltage capacitors. And it looks like the common problem in all LG LED models ( not sure). Did anyone faced this kind of issue? Will this comes under warranty right?

Also I suspect my connection setup as well,
SO, this is how i connected,

My Equipment list,

LG 42 LM6410 3LED TV
Pioneer VSX-522K
LG 3D BD Player
Videocon D2h
JBL SCS 200.5 BK 5.1 Woofer connected

Connectors:

V-Guard Crystal Plus connected to Belkin 6 socket surge protector. I have connected all these equipments in this surge protector. Is this the right way? Do i need a separate stabilizer for my AVR? Kindly provide your comments/suggestions. LG service engineer coming today to check my TV. As I lives in Thoraipakkam, we are experiencing sever fluctuations since last week. Please help me to proceed further.

Yeah, it is due to the faulty voltage capacitor if there is severe fluctuation in power. If the power fluctuations are too much better to get a separate UPS for the TV alone. A stabilizer might solve the problem to some extent only.

Use a line interactive UPS. It has built-in stabilizer unlike ordinary offline UPS. An online UPS is the best but very very expensive.

After the LED TV, now the BD player conked-off due to voltage issue. Power did not turned on. SE paid a visit and verified the board is at fault. Waiting for a new board which comes under warranty.

So, Planning to go for separate stabilizer for the AVR. Is V-Guard Mini-Crystal (1KVA) is enough for Pioneer VSX-522K AVR?

Seeing that both devices conked off so it must been some really horrible voltage fluctuations.I suggest you to get a Servo or CVT based stabilizer so your entire AV setup gets good stable power.

Doesn't your TV has built-in stabilizer ?
No tv out there has a built in stabilizer at best they can work from 110 to 240v.

Thanks!

I already having V-Guard Crystal plus 4KV stabilizer for the TV and I'm planning to connect only my AVR to the new stabilizer. In this case, 1KV V-Guard Mini-Crystal Plus is sufficient? It supports upto 1.3 AMPS

Thanks a lot Adder.

Actually, I heard that Mini-Crystal recommended for TVs with upto 32" only. Anything 42" and above, the Crystal Plus ( 3 AMPS) is suggested. However, I'm looking for a stabilizer only for the AVR . This is my AVR power spec. Kindly suggest one only for the AVR

Power Requirements: AC 120V, 60Hz
Power Consumption: 415W

Your AVR requires a 220v to 110v transformer based converter which i believe you already have.If so your converter will consume around 1.75amp max so you will need a VG Crystal which handles 2 amps or 440watt but since the price difference between crystal and crystal plus ain't much i would go with crystal plus.

What? Do i need a step down transformer for my AVR? I didn't aware of this. As I checked with the dealer, He told me that this would work fine between 110-230V. Can you please guide me on this.

Just checked the AVR, there is a "Voltage Power Selector" knob located in the backside of the AVR and It's selected 220V-247V. The other one is 110-120V. Today only I noticed this.

If it has a voltage selection switch then no need of step down transformer. Just remember not to toggle the switch to 110V accidentally.
