I think the issue here can be best explained if you look at the pictures. I need an adapter that can take in a US three pin while ensuring that the US plug is not turned up in the wrong direction. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think terrible wants it so that he can plug his device in "upside down," ie with the earth pin at the bottom. Which makes the device "the right way up."

I would never recommend removing the earth pin from one of those cheap adapters so it could be plugged in either way up, effectively converting it into a two-pin plug.

I would never recommend that, because it might be dangerous, if not in this instance, then if someone in the future used it for something that really needs an earth connection for safety.

Oh no: I would never recommend doing that.

Please clarify what you mean by "plug is not turned up in the wrong direction". It is not very clear.

This is a Powerline adapter kit bought on Amazon.com. For a proper hook up I would need the single hole in the adapter to be below while other adjacent two holes to be up. Exactly the opposite to how sockets normally are. So was wondering if such adapters existed for US plugs.

Here's another silly idea...

whether it is a single socket in a surface box, or one of several in a modular unit... take it out and remount it upside down. Voila... you know have a specialised socket for your device. :D

Better to buy a new desi-compatible adapter with the same power specs.

Addendum>>>
I think this is born out of one of those crazy R&D efforts inclined towards "user-friendliness". This might've been designed for those sockets which are installed below the knee levels. I might be wrong; just a crazy thought! :)

In US majority of the sockets in home are installed below kneee level. That may be the reason
