Hi all techgurus

I am having a Phillips HTIB model no HTS5530/94 since few years and now planning to upgrade the system.

My present Speakers specification is;
Loudspeaker types
1 x Centre speaker (200W RMS)
4 x Satellite speakers(100W RMS)
Center speaker drivers : 2 x 3" full range woofers
Center speaker freq range :150 - 20k Hz
Center speaker impedance : 4 ohm

Drivers per Satellite speaker : 2 x 3" Full range woofers
Satellite speaker freq range :150 - 20k Hz
Satellite speaker impedance : 8 ohm
Subwoofer type : Passive (200W RMS)
Subwoofer driver :1 x 8" woofer
Subwoofer freq range : 20 - 150 Hz
Subwoofer impedance : 4 ohm
My query is can i use these speakers with AV receiver without causing any trouble to receiver or speakers??

Speakers upgrade may be at a later stage may be a year wen i shift to new home.

And what r good midfi options i hv??

Av receivers mostly come with minimum of 6ohms out.. Since your speakers have only 4 ohms, it is not recommended. But still if you dont have any other option then buy a very good AVR and set your AVR's speaker settings like type to small and low frequency output.

Adding to it you should not raise your volume to beyond certain level and doing so will hurt your speakers..

Thank you for reply.

I searched through the forum about multiple impedance speakers and what i understood is

I can connect 8 ohms Front Left/Right and Surround Left/right to 6 ohms avr.
the problem is with center speaker and subwoofer with 4 ohms.

please correct me if i am wrong.

is it advisable to keep all 4 satellite speakers same and get new center speaker and subwoofer to connect to new avr??

Thanks.

If you buy new center channel and sub then there will be a variation in sound quality. You may not get the punchy and crispiness in the sound...

There are two ways here. One is to keep all your speakers and set some settings and play softly..

Another one is buy front and center channel speakers and use all of your speakers for surrounds. This will give some better sound.

Thank you bro.
seems like have to get a new complete package.

can you suggest any good HT package, of which brand like onkyo, denon, yamaha??
and any specific model if u can suggest.

purpose mostly is to watch tatasky hd, and movies sometimes music.
do not bother much for THX and dolby atmos.

thanks.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
