Need some advice on Music Hall A50.2 integrated amp.How does it stand up against Rotel RA1520,Creek Evo 2 or even Naim nait5i 2?

Need an int. amp to drive my newly acquired Dynaudio Excite X12s.

P:S- I'm searching for an amp(used) in the price range of 700-800 dollars, which will be bought in USA through a friend. Can go for a new one if it comes below $1k.

Thanks.

Out of those, the only amp that has a remote chance of driving a pair of dyns reasonably is the naim. All the others will struggle.

Look for a high current amp with atleast 100W on tap since dyns are hard to drive. However thankfully the excite range is the least problematic amongst the lot.

one of our FM's liked the Yamaha AS 2000 with the dyns.. but i suppose that will cost about a lakh here in India..

thing is you may get an amp but you must like it too as the music signature will vary from amp to amp ( rather from pre amp to pre amp ).

If you must.. look for a promitheus passive pre amp and look at the odyssey audio khartago ( about 75k i think ).

i cannot think of anything else ( at the moment )

the creek evo2 will be about 60k in India but the creek 5350 has more power and i think it will be a better match.

having said this.. the naims are 50W and they are supposed to be rock the boat too..

i would say.. please take some time out to audition a few amps.. maybe bangalore.. and that would be a good point to start to understand what you like ? It will be difficult for you to take your speakers along to bangalore but i havent heard dynaudio's and therefore cannot comment much.

what made you get the excite x12's ? did you audition those ?

i ask as FM's will need to know more about your room size, music tastes etc.. to help you with more suggestions.

maybe folks with dynaudios can chip in with further comments..

rgds,

I can't stretch my budget even a little bit.$1k is where it ends. The primary intention of the OT is how MUsicHall compares to other mentioned amps.
BTW I'm aware of almost all the usual suspects that retail at $1500 to $1600.So I'm looking for something used.
@mpw
Separates don't come in my budget. But I looked at Odyssey Cyclops. It has only one input if I'm not wrong.I use my stereo set-up with my plasma.
Thanks.

Music Hall has a good reputation. If thats your budget then i guess that would be it.

But we cannot comment on the sound. For all you know it could be to your liking or not.

Thats a chance to be taken..

A while back I did have a home demo of the Music Hall a25.2 amp - the smaller brother to the one you are talking about. To my ears - even paired with the relaxed sounding EPOS M12.2 speakers, it was a tad too bright. It was the polar opposite of the NAD sound. Personally the Dynaudio may not match well with it. But nothing like actually trying it out in your own room!

The S2000 sold for 75k each when it was available. I dont know if any more are still around.

creek is a good bet on the amp fromt. Their amps are well regarded. New Evo2 is about 62k at reference point bangalore. check with them they were talking of increasing prices !!

Hi Got these for Pound 365 (439 less 20% UK VAT) from the dealer in UK. The MRP is Pound 1000. Since I paid no customs in India this did work out to an awesome deal.

If sounded great in the store paired with Leema Acoustics CDP and Amp. Once set up I will run it with Cambridge Audio 840C and 840A.

For those visiting UK there are some great deals to be found on ex demo items.

Nice to here that you carried these beauties from U.K,they are heavy and would have occupied much in your luggage quota. The same would be costed around 60-75K in india is my guess.

Happy listening with good\best choice of speakers.

Great that speakers were "ON Escape" Mode in customs, which saved more money. This deal seems to be GVOM-Great value over money.

Awaiting for the pictures and detailed review of the set-up:):clapping:

This is for the OP.

Though I have not heard the Rega Brio-R amp, it is known to be very musical and similiar to Naim in many ways. You can get it for around Rs 50K from HiFiVision mart.

A couple of well respected members in Audiokarma have paired their Dynaudio X12s with Rega Brio-R and seem to be very happy.

Best,
