Airtel DTH and bravia remote sync question

Since yesterday my Airtel xtreame DTH (part of the black connection) remote controller is not working and i made the Sony TV remote synchronised with Airtel but still the Airtel engineer has to change the remote. My cousin says it will screw up my TV's circuit boards and to put pressure on Airtel. Can Sony remote continue to perform Airtel DTH commands and functions or after Airtel remote is restored I must resort to that remote for DTH channels?

Its been raining here and so no engineer has come so far....

You can use either remotes. There is absolutely no issue with it.
