Eh? You have chosen Airtel HD STB when you had Tata Sky HD as option? My heartfelt sympathies to you. I stopped using my Airtel STB the moment the free service expired. I missed the CWG in HD because Airtel, which was supposed to air the channel free-of-cost, insisted that the customer has to call their helpline first (though some lucky subscribers did not have to do this at all). And let me warn you, their customer service is more inefficient than Kalmadi.
Now ever since that free service has expired they are incessantly sending SMS after SMS reminding that it needs to be re-charged, and also offers like subscribe for 6 months and get 20 days free. Wow!! If they have so much time to keep sending offers and promos why the hell didn't they just adjust their service so that every subscriber could watch DD HD without going through the slow tortures of having to call their helpline. (BTW I was still within free service at the time of CWG).
And yes, I was aware of that feature whereby you could change the resolution, but in my opinion there was not much difference. Purely my opinion of course, there may be actual change.... it's just that I did not notice any difference.

OK..this is not dth forum..but i hav to say std airtel dth stb has really poor video processing.. i am using rf out instead of composite due to this..
i thing HD should be ok, because there is no D/A conversion in stb.:indifferent14:

Did u notice some diff between 576i and 1080i in the regular SD channels.

I am using the Airtel HD STB connected to TV through the HDMI port. There is no apparent improvement in SD channel picture quality when using 720p or 1081i , however the standard picture quality is pretty good!
