AKAI L42N40-3D Model - Need suggestion

Hi all,

This is my first post in hifivision....i have got good deal for AKAI L42N40-3D for 36K in hyd..below is the link..

AKAI - Tokyo, Japan

Initiall my plan was to purchase samsung ua40d6600wr, in Hyderabad still i found few outlets which are giving freebies like soundbar + 2 3D glasses for around 84K. Later, found this Akai deal....

do you guys or your friends have any experience with this AKAI model ..?

please suggest.

Spec looks good on paper. From the words "Light and comfortable 3D glasses", I assume its passive technology. Confirm if the TV can produce 1080p video in 3D mode. Passive 3D has some limitation in terms of angle of view. Better to have a proper demo for long duration before making the choice. The advantage of passive 3D are spare glasses will be cheaper (somewhere around Rs.250 to Rs.300) and not heavy as Active glasses, also they do not need batteries.

If you are getting it for 36k then buy it. But don't have too much expectations on the 3D part but i think it will be decent enough. I found a review of this tv and am posting the link.

Most importantly get a demo of this tv thoroughly before buying. Both 2D and 3D part.

It is very good price for a passive 3D TV. Whether it is LED or LCD is immaterial, if the pic quality is good. But the akai brand has no following. Their CRTs were prone to complaints.

@yourchandra, did you have a demo of the TV. If yes post your opinion for the benefit of others. The blog posted by madhavk8 is full of praise for the TV

Is this price is general one or special only for you ( due to some other relationships ?) What is the warranty and other terms. The price is nearly half of the lowest LG 3D

I have visited the store Reliance digital for demo...it was good...3D will work only 80 degree angle(as per executive)...and i observed good 3D experience while sitting straight to the TV...but overall 3D experiece was good with that price...it works with polarized glasses (Passive). i saw demo of Shrek (3D) and Dabang(2D).

For that price i thought it was good deal, but someone already reserved that product when i visited the store 2nd time. Representative said they got 10 pieces during diwali time and that was the last piece.

Now doing research back on SAMSUNG/LG...i have got good deal for SAMSUNG 40D6600WR for 81,500/- with freebies (sound bar + 3d glasses)...but thinking to wait till december for new year deals...

@srikantha: would really appreciate if you give some more details about your purchase, like price and overall quality of the TV. How much warranty has Akai provided? Also was there any bargaining involved on your part?
