Since I couldn't find a good post on video and audio streaming from the comp and other devices thro wifi.. I have tried to make it simple for first timers.. That is.. People like me who were hesitant to try.. :-)

So what I tried it with

1.Samsung 5500 51 inch plasma which has built in wifi

2.Cisco wlan router

3.Sony laptop

4.Google Nexus 4

5.Gaming rig (desktop)

Objective : to stream movies from the desktop/laptop/mobile devices

Software required :

In tv : none it has built in Allshare dlna client

In the comps : samsung Allshare - Google search for it

In the phone : imediashare android app (available in play store - Nexus doesn't support Allshare or vice versa..

Why : because we can :)

To begin with.. All devices have to be connected to the same wifi network

How : install the Allshare app on the comps and on the top left there is a tab " my computer's shared folder" click on the + sign... Select the folder with movies or audio...

Once the folders are added select the folder with movie content and right click on the file.. Select play on another device.. And choose the Samsung pdp 5500...

Pour yourself a drink and watch the movie...

The same can be done from the mobile.. Just browse through the file in the folder and select the display..

Or you can choose the particular source on the tv and browse using the tv remote...

Disclaimer : I'm just beginning to use these.. And I'm pretty happy.. Just thought this would help few hesitant souls..

If there is a doubt.. I can help to the extent I know..

If anyone else knows better. Please input your thoughts..

Thanks for reading..

When I play any media file on my NOTE 2, the phone automatically detects that my Panasonic st50 is dlna compliant. An icon appears at the top right corner of the phone screen. And it is always there while I am playing the media file.
Once I press it , my TV automatically plays it.
What I mean to say is that there is exactly no need of iMediaShare App.

I suggest to use serviio..much better than allshare..i usually get "currently not supported" prompt on my ES6800 LED.with serviio it is 90% alright..

Allshare is preloaded with all smart phones and tablets of Samsung apart from the Smart TVs. It just allows to share with any other device that is DLNA compliant, and need not be a Samy gadget.
