I was fortunate enough to receive an Amazon.com gift card. I don't have an account on amazon.com and have never bought from there. Does anyone know whether the gift card can be redeemed against purchases made from amazon.in?

On a related note, how difficult/easy is it to purchase electronic items (like tablets and accessories) from amazon.com? Do they ship to India? And if they do ship, what about customs clearance?

TIA

1. You can get the gift card amount credited to your account balance by redeeming the same.
2. When you checkout after placing items in cart, the gift card balance is automatically adjusted with the total amount. You have to pay the remaining amount. You can choose not to use the gift balance.
3. Gift cards meant for Amazon.com cannot be redeemed against amazon.in
4. Selected items are shipped to India by Amazon fulfillment. You can browse in Global Amazon; all items are eligible for international shipping.
5. Import duty is automatically calculated and added to your total
6. Amazon will ensure the item is released from customs. They will refund if they have paid lesser amount than the duty collected in advance from you
7.Shipping charges depend on shipping speed which you select
