Hi

I have noticed in most audiophile forums - Bose Speaker systems dont feature at all.
I was considering a Bose Acoustimass based 5.1 speaker with either an Yamaha 667 or Marntz stable AVR .

Experienced comments please...

thanks

Susheel

bose makes okayish speakers. the problem is with their pricing. it should cost about a fifth of the price quoted for the quality you are getting.

Hi Susheel,

Initially I was about to finalise Bose AM6 but when I autioned Bose AM10 (they dont sell AM6 thru their store hence no audition of AM6, as per sales representitive) and Paradigm Cinema 90 CT and guess what "I had to believe my ears", bose am10 didn't sound near to Paradigm 90 CT and the huge differece in price i.e. 58k for bose am6 and 41k for paradigm 90 CT (or may be less than this).
I am not at all audiophile but could find out considerable difference between both the speakers.. So I would like to strongly suggest you to go for audition and compare before you buy.
Cheers!!

I have used three Bose Speakers and they are 201 / 301 and AM5.

I liked the sound of 301 to be the best with three drivers which includes a 8 inch driver.

The 201 is also good but lacks bass response since it has a small built.

The most dissapointing is AM5 which lacks both Bass and Treble response.I use an equaliser and I have failed to boost high frequency with it.Its more of a show piece then quality sound.

Go for 301 if you want Bose or go for other brands.

I recently purchased bose IE2 headphones for 5k.
These are ultra comfortable and sounds great compared to competetion. I have audio technica and my friend has sennheiser headphones.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same thing for their speakers or other headphones for that matter.

1/5th of pricing is going a bit overboard.. They become good VFMs at 1/2 their labled prices.

Believe me or not there are lesser known so caled hi-fi brands which do offer 1/5 of the VFM!! They do survive.. AV is a tricky field. A lot of people 'think' that they are audiophiles and buy completely non VFM products. These companies are fueled by 'these' customers.

My another comment: They are fashion statements and furnishing first; speakers third.

My question to fellow members: if someone really wants to go for the minicube type of speaker, is there a better alternative?

By the way... I love the BOSE name interpretations

My two phooti kaudis about bose the brand as well as Dr Amar Bose the person:
Bose the person is more of a marketing marvel than a technological one, at that price you can get stuff three times better than his. Its essential that one realises that bose makes lifestyle products not audiophile products. I m not saying it sounds bad or good just that its worth only a third of its price. Go look elsewhere unless you want to throw your money.

yet another one

... Boisterously Obnoxious Sonic Experience

.... due to 'ear' fatigue .... most Bose speakers that I have come across have pretty 'shrill' treble. Maybe, not true across all their models ...
