any feedback on PM 7004

There are limited reviews on Marantz PM 7004 on the net. Any feedback/reviews on the amp.? Are there better alternatives in similar price range.

the pm7004 is the one step higher model of 6004 which has got many 5 star reviews. in addition it has mid level control, better transformer, more powerful and direct amp. I have placed the order for 7004 and expect that in 2-3 days. will share feedback

No experience with the 7004 but I've been using the pm7001 for a few years now and quite like it

This is a great feature in any integrated.

I could not find alternatives in similar price range and perfromance few reviews and sites also state that it is hard to beat this amp in its price range (6004/7004). there are few more advantage over 6004 which justifies it price over 6004, Like HDAM SA3, direct power amp, tritone control

I have received 7004 and it is pairing very well with my RX6.. I had also checked with Monitor Audio and below is the reply from them


Apologies in the delay getting back to you as we have had staff on annual leave

The 7004 should work in this function but it might not be a good idea to go any lower than this

The PM 15S2 might be a better match as it a more powerful Amplifier

Congratulations ! Do please use A and B speakers to Bi-wire. I know it would ruffle a few feathers on our forum reading up all the articles. However this is also what Monitor audio guys adviced me and I tried this and have noticed a refinement and good seperation with my RX6.
I use the chord silver screen for the higher frequency + midrange and a heavier 2.5 dia copper cable for the lower frequencies.

PM7004s are great. I have personally heard them and you just cannot go wrong with them. Vocals simply danced on this amp though i would have loved a little more bass punch.

At the end it will depend on your taste and its synergy with the speakers.

Pm 7004 will easily drive wharf 9.1. Even pm 5004 is good enough for 9.1. I think pm 7004 is capable of far better performance and deserves better speakers.

Yes it can . However as shared, Pm 7004 for 9.1 is overkill. Go for 5004 or any other similar amp.

Have you used PM7004 as a power amp using power amp direct in. for pre outs from ur AVR. Found the need to push volumes to close to -5db levels vs. -15-20db using AVR alone.

I am using the preouts to pm7004 with direct amp function. This is working fine for me as volume control is single

I have also connected remote out of sr5006 to remote in of pm7004. Can control the volume and switch off using one remote

you can try recalibrating the receiver if you are connecting like this or increase the input source level

How do you change input source level? You mean the level at which SR 6005 sends signals to PM7004

How would this amp run Dynaudio BM6 speakers? I am looking for an amp for them. Would the 6004 be good as well? It's price is more in line with my budget than the 7004
