Hi Folks
Pl let me know any good BR rental in Hyd - around KPHB area, preferable.
Else are there any online services who deliver to Hyd?

regards

moviemart.com - moviemart Resources and Information. This website is for sale! delivers BDs, DVDs and PS3 games all over India. I am a member they keep around 3000 rupees as security deposit (refundable) and a membership charge based on how many BDs I want to rent over a year . although membership is lifetime, so if your quota is not exhausted you can get the same extended over initial 1 year at no cost.

The only challenge is that due to demands, it might take some time to get newer titles immediately after they are released on moviemart, so you need to maintain a watchlist of BDs so that moviemart can know in advance the demand and make you available that BD. They use speedpost for delivery and also send a pre-stamp duty paid envelope for you to return it back by dropping it at a speed post counter in post office.

Thanks haisaikat. Heard about them but surprisingly the site is not working now. Are you still a member and getting deliveries?

sorry, realized today that their website is not working. I returned the last blu-ray set in June and have 2 more items left to complete my package. Even I faced the same communication problem and after several emails they gave me this land-line number saying that their company office is in the basement of a building where cell phone reception is very poor so they have now switched to this landline +91-1141587700

I am surprised their site is not working, worried now about the 3000 that I had paid deposit (refundable).

Request fellow members to keep trying in this number and their email [email protected] (if that works) until that time everyone stay away from moviemart.

Also if there are any Delhi / Gurgaon based FM who can check locally at this address that will be best

Shocking to know that , moviemart has closed , i would have at least 35 blu ray movies to watch to exhaust my paid amount !!

As it happens , these guys never even bothered to inform us about the closure !

But , any reliable Blu ray libraries in NCR ??

seeing 8 replies to the post, I had hoped to get at least 1 pointer to Hyd rentals.
Sadly, looks like BR rental is no more profitable and hence people are shutting shop :(
the exorbitant BR disk prices could be the reason..

KVM,

Its no more a profitable business in this current media world, At least 50% of the people are downloading the movies in torrents and in other sources. In that 50% most of them don't care about the quality of the video or audio all they want to do is just to watch the movies. So People who are buying blu-rays became very less in this crowd who strive for audio & video quality :(.

The other notable thing is, most of the places where we buy blu-rays are not their main business, its a tiny part of their business, so they don't or care to maintain a good collection of movies or videos.

Haisaikat, umeshdhingra - is there a way can you tell me how much the renting sites usually charge to enroll and in what basis the renting works ?

Thanks,

@kvm, I dont know about the online rentals. But there is one in Banjara hills. It is called Cinema Scope, besides Chutneys, Road No: 3, Banjara hills. I'm having a membership, but it been long since I rented as I moved to Kondapur.
Nice collection of Blu rays and DVD's.
Hope this helps.

I've used MovieMart in the past, but not since a couple of years or more.

Try Fribzi, I have membership there but have not visited in a few years so not sure how good their collection is... it was very good for DVDs and the few Blu-Rays I rented.

Also, Reliance BigFlix is another option, I've used them too in the past but have not ordered anything recently.

Depending on your needs getting a VPN and Netflix subscription would be a better option. That's what I'm doing now and it beats any rental service for the sheer volume of TV serials and movies. However, if you desire Indian movies then Netflix is not an option.

"Cinema Scope" in Banjara Hills closed their shop couple of months ago.

There is a shop in Krishna Nagar / Srinagar Colony, I don't remember the name. But, it is located close to Marble shops lane. I will find out the number and update here.

Also, LANDMARK is offering 70% off on several Blurays. You may want to check out their store in Somajiguda. I bought 10 blurays in my last visit.

Well it is sad new that even Moviemart has also closed down. But I have seen years back Reliance BIGFLIX met the same fate althouhg their service was even better with CD and DVD door to door pickup and delivery. It was also very cheap around 20 INR per title. But they closed informing the customers that the left over balance (in rental plan) would be adjusted against providing a one time 75 DVD set which looked good to resist. But unfortunately they did not live up to their word and ended up providing BIGFLIX+ online streaming account free for 1 yr which needless to say I could never use, no use of countless complaints. I really loved BIGFLIX DVD delivery service though.

For Moviemart, it was on a smaller scale that they were doing this business where they used to charge as low as INR 60 per title (BD, DVD both) in their highest plan and I paid around INR 80 per title since i had the plan for 24 BDs for 1999 with 3000 INR deposit (seems this i will not be getting back).

In general these online rentals do not provide original titles rather they provide Copy disks for which they have purchased copying license for renting against a royalty to the production house having the original copyright.

Nevertheless with this incident, I would never recommended anyone to go for online rentals anymore, somehow this business is not flourishing.

Many thanks for all the replies and suggestions. Yes, I agree. Looks this is not a mainstream biz for anyone now, unlike in olden days when we could happily rent video cassettes or VCD/DVD.

Purchase is an option but carrying huge collection in the long term is a pain..

Bigflix is not renting anymore but only streaming...

I still remember that the VHS Tape is rented at 10 RS :)..
We used to have advertisements in between during that time in VHS Tape also :)..

I always got original disks from Moviemart. I don't think copying disks could have between viable and practical for these services.

If you came to this conclusion based on the printed labels on the disk then I would suggest you to check if still retain any of their disks? The copyright message printed on the disk should say "Authorized Copy...." whereas the ones that we buy for home viewing has something different.

Moreover the ones available for purchase in mass market are for non-commercial / personal use only which you cannot rent legally, for renting you need to buy a rent / commercial license from the distributor house which is priced higher and probably they provide you the copies. I did not mean that moviemart themselves used to make the copy.

Thanks haisaikat,

I was wondering to know how this business works, Now its time to check the Authorized Copy and read agreements for different types of usage ( personal, rental )

if your are happy with 25gb of bluray disc rather than 50gb.

there are BD's in the market selling for 150-200rs these 25gb blurays of almost all language movies.

I myself bought 2 disc's to test out (AVATAR and SVSC) both the discs got DTS-HD MA 5.1 Audio and the video quality is of 25mbps (which is more than enough for most of us or atleast for me).
