Is there any way to add sub to Naim Nait 5i ? i read somewhere that it can be done taking the connection from speakers other terminal's but since my speakers do not have other 2 terminals they only have one set each.

can i add some sort of converter on speaker out from amp itself and give one connection to sub and one connection to speakers ?

from any of the the speaker line out from the Naim nait.. take it to the sub line in ( 2 way RCA ).

From the sub line out.. take it to the speaker inputs.

Adjust required crossover freq on the sub woofer.

the sub must be capable of taking Line level inputs.

Something like an REL would be nice.

thats what i understand.

Hi MPW,

thanks a lot for clarification, however i am pretty skepticle about feeding my sub directly from amp and driving my speakers from sub speaker out(if i got it correctly). can there be some way where i can split the signals from speaker out

can something of this sort be worked out ?
How to hook up a subwoofer to a stereo system | The Audiophiliac - CNET News

i am not to sure how to achieve this and what all cables would be required.

U r not driving speakers from the sub.

The amp is still in play.. Just that the sub crossover filters out sound above the cutoff freq.

To my knowledge this is pretty standard procedure if u wish a 2.1or 2.2 system

if the subwoofer is good ( for eample from REL etc.. ).. it wont.

The important part is the positioning of the sub / subs in the room so tnat you dial in just the amount of bass you need without overpowering the music.

Normally the crossover setting on the sub should be epreimented with and as a rule of thumb is at the -10dB point of the lowest freq of your main speakers.

Lots of things depend on the room too and this needs to be tried and tuned to your satisfaction.

YMMV..

REL doesn't work like that. It has a high-level connection where you connect to the speaker terminals on amplifier along with the speaker cables.
You don't connect the speakers to the sub but both are connected in parallel. You set the crossover frequency on the sub below which you want the sub to kick in. Here is some info on that.

I think some american sub's have that feature where you connect the speakers to the sub.

I don't think that's the way it is supposed to work..it either high level to high level or rca to RCA .
Which sub is this ?
A good sub which will go well with your speakers will be really expensive..most subs may only end up ruining the sound and you are better off without it .

Looking at this and the other thread I was interested in using my Jamo sub which has speaker level input, hence as discussed in the thread as well as here I connected a pair of speaker cables from the amplifier speaker out to the sub speaker level in and set the crossover at 100Hz. I can hear the sub come out live and my Coke studio live concert are back again with some thumping music. Loving it as I was missing the sub for the thump on my Denon 510 amplifier. Thanks to everybody and the OP for initiating and also the solution.

One thing is my sub phase is at 180 and I am not sure how much this should be as changing this is not making any difference to the bass/sub.

Thanks

arj my friend, i totally agree with you and am happy with the outcome of my setup even at the time its in break-in period. but i have a younger brother who has just started his journey in music and is into trance and house with lots of boom boom(just like my young days). i have to accommodate his request.

Miniraj : mind posting few clicks of how you got the wire from amp to sub and speaker might help many like me.
