Hello,

I recently purchased an ATLP1240 USB Turntable in the US and brought it down to India. I had an old (really old) Step down transformer that read 220v to 110 v, that i used to plug it in. It worked for a few seconds and then went off. Now it refuses to turn on!!!

What's could be the issue? I will buy a brand new transformer and try it again, but if its not the issue i'm worried that i might have damaged the TT's fuse or worse the internals (transformer?).

The power rating spec for the TT is 110 V, 60 Hz and 13W.

Please advice,,

regards,

Distraught :(

If you have a multimeter handy, you can run a check on the step down transformer and check if its giving output. In all probability, its the step down transformer that has gone out.

You can get these little step down converters at any local chinese toy shop. These can easily handle your TT's specs of 13 watts.

Damage to the TT would only be possible if your step down transformer shorted and fed the TT with 220volts. This is probably a rarest of the rare case situation and hence you're TT is likely to be ok. If the step down transformer is ok and you're TT is still not working, it could be a blown fuse in the TT's powersupply or the TT's transformer could have given way. If the TT's transformer has to be replaced, its better to replace it with a 220volts one so that you can completely avoid the step-down transformer.

Thanks for your reply @ruebensm. Got the Step down checked and it seems like it has indeed shorted. I will have to take the turntable to a specialist to get it checked :(

Does anyone know someone who repairs turntables in Mumbai?
