I am trying to passthrough/bitstream audio from my XTPro to denon to use denon' s DAC to see the difference(and choose the better one). I have hooked up an optical(XTPro manual it says it supports passthrough via optical only) between the two and set the relevant input source in Denon settings. In XTPro I have selected the 'DTS/Dolby TruHD/Bolby D+' in 'Digital Output' option(as instructed by XT manual).

Questions: On the Denon panel I am seeing the input signal(on the left side of the panel) as 5 channel with dts logo(in case of DTS) lighting on top. Is this what I should see in case of passthrough ? I doubt because this is what I see even if I dont use optical(i.e use HDMI for video/audio both). How do i confirm, its bit-streaming? I don't want the XTPro to decode/process the audio.

PS: I just realized, i May have posted it in wrong forum but cannot find any option to move this thread to relevant section.

If the AVR is showing DTS or Dolby Digital logo then the audio is sent as bitstream and the decoding is done by the AVR. If the decoding is done by the player then the avr will show MULTI IN fo surround sound.
