Hi, I am looking for cooling Fan for AV, Home Theater, PS5 Racks and understand that AC Infinity does the job well but the concern is the 3X cost in India as well as the delivery time is more than 10 Days.

Any other recommendations for the fans availaible in India which can be used for my AVR, Streamer and PS5 Rack ?

This is what I did for my PS5 in a enclosed cabinet

- 5V 1A to DC 12V Step Up Module - rs 250
- 2CH 4 Wire LED Digital PWM Motor Speed Controller Fan Temperature Controller Buzzer Alarm DC 12V 24V 48V with 50CM Cable - rs 650
- 3 artic pwm fans - rs 1200 (value as per the pack as I bought and not individual.Individual runs 750 online and 500-600 local when available in my experience)
- Housing for PWM Temperature Driver Module 3d printed using stl files found online

This is connected to one of the usb ports on the ps5 making it run only when they it is turned on.I shall post some picture if necessary when I can

The usb port on my tv has power delivery now and then so it wasn't suitable for this.I have come across AVRs that have powered ports always as well as some that trigger only when turned on.Those might work as well.

Great job :)

Can you post some pics please. And are the fans audible from your lstening seat.

This image is from my on the early stages of experimenting with this
-The cable at the bottom is the step up converter that converts usb power to 12v
-The cable on the left is a thermal probe I taped to the top to measure temperature as heat rises up and that's where any heat that hasn't been pushed out would be
-On the right is the cable that goes to the fan and it is daisy chained which the pst tech of the artic fans
-The grill is to prevent any cables from getting caught in the fan

You can have two thermal probes and two individual channels meaning it could be used for two devices or partitions at once using one governor

The following helps the fan noise to be inaudible
-I can set a linear fan curve using the governor by setting an low(min speed) and high temp(max speed) the fan noise is not audible. There is an idle speed as well when the console/avr is turned on
-the artic fans are pretty silent upto 80% or so.Maybe a noctua might be even more quiet but at the premium it comes in I could not justify the cost.

Things to note:
-If you want to run multiple channels and fans you have to be aware of the power needed to do so.
12v wall adapter>usb 3.0>usb 2.0
-If you are using a 12v adapter either go for the continuous operation rated fans (The CO variant in this case for the continuous operation) or fans that switch off at low pwm levels so that they are stopped when not required
(there is always a pwm signal when the governor is powered for idle speed and some fans can shut off at pwm<5%)

Thanks for the detailed explanation of the configuration. Very cleverly implemented indeed :)

-The grill is to prevent any cables from getting caught in the fan
The Grill is one of the important factor of Fan noice than the Motor itself. Motros will normally quite even at high speed. The design of the Fan blades (force of the Air) and Grill (Obstruction) contributes to Noise. The Metal Grill done with thin wire you have installed is idially better than keeping the fan open and have least resistance to forced air pushed by the fan, compared to purporated panels and plastic moulded grills. The Thing to remember always...

Yes
I forgot to go through this.

So firstly you will find two types of fans in most cases one that is for airflow and one that is better for static pressure.

Like the name suggests a static pressure fan works better in a closed cabinet and can draw air from small crevices and gaps which also makes it better with such grills/ obstruction

Second
The shape and type of grill did affect the noise and and I went through this article

Following learning about this I don’t use a grill anymore and have modified the dust filter mesh as the fans do attract dust no matter what

While the article mentions a loss in airflow with the mesh in my experience with static pressure fans mounted right and the right number of fans you’d be clearing the entire volume of air in the space within seconds for it to matter into actual use

Here is the picture for reference...Not sure which model of fans I should purchase

I am also working on enclosed cabinet having 4 slots at my tv unit to place AVR, Playstation, Xbox, Switch, HTPC and few other things.

I have purchased 4 nos Noctua 140mm NF-A14 iPPC-2000 which I am going to place 2 each on most used 2 slots using for exhaust and planning to power them using 5V wall adapter which will run them half speed being 12V fans

After seeing this response, I am also planning to purchase temperature controller powered directly by 12v power adapter.

Will share more detail as I progress
