Hello All

It is good to meet you all again after a brief pause. I'm setting up a bedroom stereo setup. So far, I have the following components:

Amplifier: Fosi Audio V3
DAC: Topping E30 II lite
Speakers: Polk ES15

My primary sources are going to be Apple Music and Youtube(found some channels with tamil songs in DSD).

I was planning to use Android TV Box as the music player. But, I'm facing below two challenges:
1.There is no support for Apple Music in android TV. Only LG web os have support for apple music app.
2. Not sure how to get DSD audio pass through from Youtube via USB in android tv box.

Please suggest me what can be the right media player which can output Hi-res audio from apple music and DSD audio from youtube.

I'm really confused here about the equipments and the connection type. I thought of relying on optical output, but it looks like it is not going to give the expected results.

Thanks so much.

The Eversolo A6 and A8 are your best bet as they can play back hi res lossless from Apple Music as well as support every conceivable format including playback from youtube and the whole nine yards.

Alternatively, you can give Apple TV a try. It can play back lossless on Apple Music i.e. upto 48khz but can do 192khz on Plex and certain other apps.

For apple music eversolo is the best one
Even high end hi fi rose was lacking this apple music but I heard recently they have added after a long gap

Thanks for the suggestion. Streamer can play Apple Music as well as YouTube?
Streamer can play looseless from Apple Music, Tidal, Qubuz, and from other compactable apps. In the above comments, everyone suggested Eversolo. I also vote for Eversolo, but you can check these other streamers too: Sonos port , expensive option - naim

I have listened to cxn v2 .Naim and hifi rose 250
Nothing beats eversolo with the price match.

I doubt Youtube does DSD. IF you have an iPhone you can buy a wiim mini and use airplay to cast apple music to wiim. I am not sure if apple music on android does chromecast. If yes, you can buy chromecast supported wiim and call it a day. This is the cheapest route.
The better one will be to get an eversolo device.

1. For Apple Music Apple TV is the most cost effective option. Followed by Eversolo which would be as much as your entire system.
2. You tube doesn't do DSD, Lossless. Max it does is 160 VBR.

Better get CCA, WIIM mini etc and use Apple without HiRes. Alternatively, 1. You could also swap E30 II Lite with Wiim Pro/Pro plus 2. swap E30 II Lite FIIO BTA30 or other economy BT DAC and use Bluetooth.

Yes with eversolo he can ditch his existing dac and preamp if any .
It has streamer dac and an excellent preamp so that it can be connected to any power amp like norge can enjoy excellent outcome

Thanks so much for all the suggestion :)

Sorry, I was out of station for last couple of week, hence couldn't reply.

As I don't have the budget for suggested streamers, I'll plan for it in the near future. As of now, I'm using macbook pro USB output for streaming apple music and android TV box - usb output for youtube. It is not convenient, lot of struggle as the macbook need to be moved and connected everytime i use apple music, but it is working for now with good results.

The setup is: Macbook pro -> USB -> E30 II lite -> Fosi V3 and Android tv box -> USB -> E30 II lite -> Fosi V3

Thanks again for all the inputs. It was really helpful.

I'll update here once I acquire the streamer or figure out any other ways in the mean time.

YouTube will not even do lossless, let alone DSD.
I think there is a Eversolo on sale in the classifieds, check that out.
Thanks for calling that out, Dhruv. Yeah, realised that when I connected the DAC.

Where can I get tamil or indian songs in DSD format? What is the primary source for it?

Hello All

I know it has been sometime since I started this thread. I have been trying out different options that was in my budget and got settled with a fantastic option that used most of my existing gears with just 2.5K extra and it sounds better than almost all the options I tried.

I have tried the below options:

* Macbook -> DAC -> amp
* Apple TV(borrowed from a friend to explore) -> DAC -> amp
* Old iphone 7(Borrowed apple lightning to camera adapter from a friend) -> DAC -> amp
* I don't have budget to try out any streamer

And got settled with the below which sounded equivalent or better than the above options.

I bought a RaspberryPI 4 from a forum member for 2.5 K and installed shairport. The setup is like below:

RPI4 USB -> DAC -> Amp

I can now airplay from my laptop and iphone. It can be youtube or apple music. The sound quality is fantastic. Atleast equivalent to using apple TV or macbook directly via USB. It is very convenient as it is almost invisible.

I'm also using the same RPI as a NAS(Connected a hard disk to it with Open Media Vault).

Thought of sharing this as it might be useful for someone trying to get best out of limited budget :)

Actually the RPI is running 24/7 without any issues as a NAS. It is a fantastic solution for low cost NAS as well. I used to torrent a lot and using it to an extent. Holding up as good as a branded dedicated NAS. I would suggest it as a DIY NAS anytime.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
