Emotiva is much more bang for buck than rotel. But am sure the dealer/idstri would like to push the brands he has down your throat to make a bigger killing

Normally as a hear say I have been hearing that B&W speakers are treble oriented so an amp like pioneer will only make things worse. Best thing to do would be is pair it with a Yamaha aventage series like RX-A820 which ever u choose for ur budget

Hi proxykiller,

You have a very good budget for a receiver. I presume it is 1.2 lakhs. I have been using B&Ws since long right from 300 series. Please don't go with Rotel way they never wake up B&Ws. (I am telling you this despite the fact that they are paired with, in every B&W showroom)

Emotiva - hmmm read my lips saying 'NO' I had paired it with UMC 1 PRO and wasn't happy so sold it in this very same place cause it was making the speakers to shout and not sing. (Note I had coupled the UMC 1 with many power amps nothing worked).

Prior to Emotiva I had my B&Ws with Marantz SR 9600 the then top end receiver till I upgraded to SUNFIRE TGR III receiver, till then I never knew that B&Ws have so much in potential. So then only I have decided that I should go in Pre Pro combination.

In this process I had changed with many gears and lost lot of time - energy & money and finally checked out with Anthem and amazed by its performance and control over the B&Ws. Please go thru my thread 'MY HOME THEATER JOURNEY' and 'Anthem Room Correction' which are self explanatory.

So your Speakers being Satellites & Sub combination with 85db sensitivity I feel Anthem MRX 300 will be more than enough still my recommendations to you will be just blindly go with Anthem MRX 500 and you will never Regret. Moreover in case you want more power just add a power Amp this will amaze you as a pre pro too.

NB: *Anthem MRX 500 is on sale @ 1.1 lakhs (approx) being out going model.

* I am having Denon 1610 receiver with me in hand now. Just got it from a forum member in the process of helping him in getting it serviced. I will post my review later in the evening after having tried it.

* No affiliations or whatsoever to Anthem.

Thanks

It was a good reading and quite an audio journey and appreciate the thirst for "satisfying audio experience" which most of us audiophile should have and have, I suppose and be able to afford. Good luck on your continuing journey.

Cheers

We have arcams top model avr750. Personal experiences of pairing it with paradigm signature series home theater setup are simply outstanding. The coherence & bonding is something that happens only in heaven. I have no experiences of pairing it with BW speakers. If you are looking for sound without hdmi, better look for monster avrs like Yamaha z9 or onkyo nr1000. The z9 is better than avr750 when it comes to sound, power & accuracy but does not support bluray formats. So you may have to use 7.1 channel analog inputs. I am going to have a z9 soon.

Consider Pioneer LX series. Pioneer India have nailed it as far as receiver pricing goes in India. In terms of performance, the LX series are superb and offer a lot of flexibility.

I will give Emotiva a shot. If they don't work, selling them is not hard. Easily the most value for money HT hardware you can get. Please buy direct from Emotiva.

Yes, if Emotiva pre is paired with other power amps it tends to sound bright, BUT if you pair it with their own power amps, it becomes neutral. This have realised first hand after listening to both types of combo's. A matter of voicing done by Emotiva I suppose.

As for Pioneer LX series, the LX87 will come in your budget as well. Again, its not bright as most people perceive it to be.

I have a pair or B&W's and I have a pair of Rotel Monoblocks and a Pair Emotiva Monoblocks
I have the Emo USP-1 Pre , An Arcam integrated which i use as a pre as well as a Denon older gen AVR as well as a higher end 4311 which i have used a pre

""Denom"" is spot on with his observation ...
Emo Pre + Emo Power ((neutral and fast))
Emo Pre + Rotel Power - ((a tad bright))
Arcam + Emo ---- ((not as good as Emo all the way ))
Arcam + Rotel --- (( Low end not as punchy and fast ))
Denon + Rotel --- (((pretty good ))

I have tried Rotel Pre with Rotel power amps as well

A lot of our overseas Hifi Bretheren have paired the B&W 800 series with Emo .... Price to performance ratio is pretty high
