I'm on the lookout for a BBQ grill for my home. The only option I can find is Weber but they are horribly overpriced. Can someone point me to where I can buy or get one made?

Are you looking for a gas fired or coal fired one? I am using a simple coal fired one sold locally by prestige, very bare bones & basic, but the taste of the coal fired BBQ is freakin awesome :licklips:

Also the fun & 'process' of lighting a coal fired BBQ is really part of the pleasure - that is once the BBQ chef is suitably fired up ;) :ohyeah:

It cost me only 2500/- its absolutely VFM ;)

BBQ time for me begins post November, as the weather in my city gets cooler. Time to enjoy :yahoo:

Metro has something( gas fired) that is a lot more affordable that Weber-which by the way is priced around 4-5 times what it costs in the US. My Weber Q 220 cost me about $220 with stand and is priced around 35K here.

Thanks Dave and George. I don't mind either coal or gas. Both have their pros and cons.

My friend and FM Sandeep has a metro membership so I'll make a trip to Metro and see what they have. I'll also take a look at the Prestige model. I assume you're talking about the Prestige that makes pressure cookers?

Thanks for the info and you are welcome for some BBQ and beer once I get the grill!

EDIT: Dave - Can you post a link to the product you have? Tx!

Hi Bluu,
I too am looking to buy a BBQ Grill. Checked out a few options. Weber is nice and compact but too expensive. So am planning to take the charcoal BBQ route.

My friend got this one(see pic) from Shivajinagar for 2.5k. It looks quite plain yet functional and suits my requirement. Check it out when you visit Shivajinagar (near parking lot of Russell Market). There are shops which sell grills, skewers and other BBQ accessories.

@Dave: I too am interested in a link to Prestige BBQ.

Santhosh - I don't know my way around Shivajinagar but thanks for the info. Will search for it.

Can you please post a link of the product's website? What do you mean by "we" sell this? Is it your business? What is the price of this grill and are there other models by the same manufacturer? This one is a little too large for my requirements.

Thanks! :)

Sorry Bluu & Santhosh for the late replies,

just checked into HFV after 3 days counting today ;) as was away @ work cut off from the net. Yea, the same prestige of TTK industries, the company feels that the BBQ industry is not their forte & seem to have pulled the plug on that product of theirs. Maybe magma can design & fabricate an audiophile grade BBQ Unit for the both of you :D

Will try to find out if similar VFM BBQ contraptions are available in the market.

:)

There is no website but I can mail you the catalogue if you give your email address.

Yes. We have a business and among many other things we also deal in barbeques.

What is the price of this grill and are there other models by the same manufacturer?

The price is Rs 6000/- . And there arent any other models by the same manufacturer. Though we have other models in weber, Prestige and also the basic one as shown in one picture in the thread.

This one is a little too large for my requirements.

Thanks! :)

Then maybe the simple one would work better as it is the most compact one.

Wow, that's interesting..I have a few people who might be interested, so I will check and follow up on this.

Maybe there can be a group buy on this! Haha!

I uploaded the catalogue of the barbeque here so everyone can check it-

The catalogue is for firetower, the one which can be seen in the video.

We also have an online shopping website which is under construction. You can get a rough ideas about bbq's from there.

However the price and availability would have to be checked.

I have been thinking about making a BBQ grill set in Stainless Steel for quite some time. Reason being, the ready made things available in the market are all made using MS or CR sheet and will rust after some time and branded BBQ sets are quite expensive. During a Friday evening get-together with my friend I shared my Idea of making this and all of them were interested in making a set in SS and finally I got the material ready.

Thanks,

Hi Bibin,
Please share the price. Is it possible for you to ship it to Pune.

Just saw the thread. I use a really cheap DIY Barbeque, the idea for which I picked up from some African students who were staying at my friend's place on rent.

They use a steel pan used for carrying sand, bricks and other construction material by the workers. Put coal into it and light it up. They use a steel mesh of reasonable thickness which is available in hardware stores. Works really well.
