I've googled this question and read through things (with not-so-conclusive answers), but this is here and now, and I'd like to make sure that I make the correct decision based on what's available on the market today.

I purchased a pair of Kef Q300 speakers, and I really want to pair them with an amp that will complement them as best as possible. Price is something I will of course take into consideration.

I live in Vancouver, Canada.

The setup is a 2.0, which will likely eventually become a 2.1

Thanks!

Edit: Just to check, is the Marantz pm6004 still basically the best choice at $649.99?

I got a PM6004 with Q300, some 20 hrs burned. It is really good and detailed. It is the best choice of mid sized rooms. You can also try some heavy powered denon if u got big room ! I felt like they are too open with denon when auditioned.

I have tested the Q300s with Marantz PM6004 and Yamaha AS500. Matches well with both but will shine after usual burn in period of 100 hours or so.

each of these amps come with their own sound signatures. it depends on what your ears prefer. imo you should audition some shortlisted amps on your speakers - its extremely important to do that to arrive at the right decision.
