if you dont want to buy Online, then options might be limited. But Flipkart and few other websites do provide, COD option. So you may want to reconsider your purchase mode restrictions.

Just in case you change your mind,

1) IEMS

try this though little cheaper, looks like a gud option! - Tekfusion - Twinwoofers In-Ear Headphones (Black Chrome) | Headphone | Flipkart.com

also try, SOUND MAGIC PL50, BRAINWAVZ some model, HIFIMAN RE ZERO i believe comes in same budget.

2) Headphones

Sennheiser HD 203 Headphone | Headphone | Flipkart.com

if these are used at home, i would recommend headphones and if its for on-the-move listening, then get one of the above mentioned IEMs. Also search around on flipkart, amazon for similar products and pick your choice and if you are in dilemma which one to chose, depending on the place, genre preferences FMs here can guide you and do mention if you have problem with sticking IEMS deep in to the ear.

neither do i own it, nor experienced it and I wont probably ever but it so cant say. But quick googling gave relatively few reviews and why i wouldnt buy it because of below reasons:-
1) Doesnt seem to have above 4 rating. (at any budget you can get products rated almost close to 5/5)
2) I didnt like the looks
3) I like either super-isolating IEMs like HF5 or full-sized headphones which are only next to IEMs in isolation(though i have SR80is which are open-backed, these cant be used at work or in the cab and buses due to obvious sound leakage but if your listening environment is quite opposite then, these are bang-on! right there in sound if you could compromise little bit on amount of bass oomph and forego bass-heavy genres of music). With on-ear models what you achieve is A) cool ears since air still reaches ur ears(this is a real big problem for people like me who is pitta predominant body type and in summers just forget it!) and B) you can listen to outer noise like Phone/door bell ringing or managers yelling-out your name at work :) depending on volume/isolation offered by the cans u get.

Personally i dont need such option. I just need highest fidelity & isolation at any given price point. Probably one bonus for me would be if they are easy to be driven by PMPs like Sansa Clip/shuffle etc.,

**Tell us your listening enviornment and Genre preferences/or if this is used for movies and gaming**. This will narrow down your options considerably and only then it will be a fair comparision/research. Otherwise you might like what you buy for all things else but realise it doesnt serve exact purpose you needed it for! Makes sense?

Small 10x12 room, watching movies and listening to music on PC from a distance lying on bed.

Hi,

I have recently brought the LG42LM6700. This TV suffers from the poor audio quality.

I had placed an order for "Sennheiser HD 203 Headphone" with the flipkart, howeverthis headphone comes with the 3.5mm audio jack whereas the TV has only the Digital Optical output. Are there any easy option or converters available?

I use Tatasky HD plus which is connected through the HDMI cable. It also has a 3.5mm audio out but this does not solve the problem because of its limited use.

Please help.

My headset Grado SR80i will serve the purpose for you but its almost 5.5k. Probably used one will be in that budget. Open backs are excellent for surround effect in movies/games and in music it helps with wider n reaslistic sound-stage. Within your budget i guess Senheiser HD 180 and 203 got good ratings.

Optical out is digital out and headphones needs analog signal. If you intend to better the sound of your TV then get something like Fiio D3
Amazon.com: FiiO D3 Digital to Analog Audio Converter - 192kHz/24bit Optical and Coaxial DAC: Musical Instruments. This is nothing but a sound card converting your digital audio data to analog signals used by speakers and headphones/earphones.

P.s: you should be able to connect the d3 to your STB too.

I am pretty sure your TV will have a headphone out. Mine has one on the left side. Dont just look at the back panel. Try to check the manual. You will find it.

Thanks a lot for the info.
Bajaao.com is selling the same for 2900/-
However Dealextreme is selling the same for $30.80 (around Rs.1700/-) with free shipping to india... another $2.95 for the 1.0m Toslink cable. looks tempting.

No, no 3.5mm audio out in the latest LG 3D tv. i have looked all around the TV as well as at the manuals.

Its an absolute baby step if you are serious about sound from your spanking new TV which will most probably offer superb picture quality but sound most-probably-than-not will suck! :) Just get it if you can and let us know how you like it. I'm contemplating getting one for long time but my wallet took a major hit already with other things bougth, buying and going to buy and this always takes a back-seat. :D

I really cant believe that the TV doesnt have a headphone out!!

Probably add a decent headphone amplifier like Fiio e7/17 if you can afford and you can you use those 2 as USB dacs with not just computers but also devices supporting USB host mode like Nokia e6(all devices might not work though!) when you are not using them with the TV.

bump your budget to 4k and get a jvc rx-900 if you want headphones.. nutin beats it in an around 4k

mind you they are huge and for home use only and not portable.. but you'd love em.. and they need at least 150 hours of proper burn-in to shine ..

I have ordered following items from DealExtreme:

FiiO D3 Digital to Analog Audio Converter------------------------USD$ 30.80
FiiO E6 Portable Headphone Amplifier----------------------------USD$ 27.99
3.5mm Audio Jack (Female) to RCA Audio Converter (30cm)------USD$ 1.50
Digital Optical Fiber Optic Toslink Audio Cable (150CM)-----------USD$ 3.80
3.5mm Audio Jack (Male) to RCA Audio Converter (90cm)--------USD$ 1.50
3.5mm Male-Female Stereo Audio Extension Cable (3M-Length)---USD$ 2.50

Now time to ponder about the headphone. I am thing of going with Senn HD439 to be used with Galaxy Note/Inspiron/LG Lm6700. What say guys?

Fiio products are absolute VFM. Worth every penny. I extract maximum out of my E6. You Keep your D3 connected always to that TV. I bet its much better than the inbuilt DAC chip.

I was on the lookout for the same as my head phone had broken down. Thanks for the info.

My brother is using "Nokia BH 503" wireless stereo bluetooth headset. He shopped it from ebay cost approx 1k cheaper than retail Nokia outlets. He's been using it over 6 months now and he uses it with his laptop, PC and mobile etc since its wireless its so easy to use anywhere; you just need to connect them with your device via bluetooth.
You should check this model if you are interested.
