One of the challenges many of us face is in finding or identifying good quality recordings of music. Unfortunately many of my favourite bands and albums were recorded in a time where recording equipment was less than adequate.
I don’t mind listening to 320kbps MP3 or lossless files of the same recording if it’s well recorded. (Sacrilege!)
A particularly confounding issue is that some “digitally remastered” old albums sound not as good as the original in vinyl. I don’t know why.
Some of my favourite albums from the 70s and 80s that I happily enjoyed playing on cassette tapes and vinyl records sound lifeless on CDs.
I find that my collection of music that is of good quality has become small.
I am looking (if it’s possible) for tips and methods to identify good quality recordings of music (Indian classical, Rock, Blues, Jazz, world music etc)
