Bought couple of Zotac Nvidia GT240 cards for HTPCs,main purpose being bitstreaming HDMA and TrueHD tracks.Being out of touch with the field for sometime, thought all HDMI cards these days would do it and boy, was I wrong!!

Anyway, just got myself to blame for zilch research before buying.Only consolation is that damage was in the early 4k and not very high.

Also,if possible, plz recommend an HTPC card that can actually bitstream out of the box.ATI preferred this time.

I use a gt440 card and it bitstreams HD audio. There are many ATI/Nvidia cards as well other than mine which bitstreams i think gt5xx and gt4xx series and ATI 54xx and 6xxx series you can try.

Thanks

I would suggest go the shop trade both the cards for gt440 or any ATI card which does bit streaming and try to not make any extra bucks as you have paid close to 4k for both the cards put together. I think you get a GT440 card for around 4k only :ohyeah:

^^Thanx Manni....I bought both cards online at 2.1k each and hence, exchange is out of the question.I can sell them online maybe, as these have 5 years warranty on them.

And thanx for the GT440 suggestion, gonna read up on them and make a purchase today.

I would suggest go the shop/dealer and try to bargain rather than selling it online and many of the shop fellows will readily agree as you are opting for bargain with another higher end card. The job would be easy and if it does not work out to your satisfaction with the price then just walk out and as you planned try to sell it off online and make good with another higher end card.

Thanks

Any 5 series and above AMD/ATI card will bitstream hd audio. All nvidias from the 4/5/6 series other than GTX570/GTX580/GTX470/GTX480/GTX465 will bitstream as well.

Low cost nvidia card that support hd audio and 3D is GT520. It is priced around 2.5K. GT440 is around 4K. I think all of the latest AMD cards support HD audio bitstreaming.
