Blu Ray Audio

I have connected a Sony Blu Ray/Google TV to my Onkyo receiver using Optical cable. The sound comes through on the ads in the beginning but stops once the movie starts. The sound works fine through the TV via HDMI

In the setup at both ends, please ensure that Optical Digital is chosen as the audio path. In Onkyo you can choose what is the video path and what is the audio path.

Just a guess...

I think Blu Ray player is trying to send 7.1 HD signal over Optical. 7.1 HD is not possible with optical, we need HDMI for that.

In Blu Ray, try selecting a different audio. Most BR players would be able to downmix audio to 5.1 which works with Optical.

Apart from main movie, things like ads/menu do not have 7.1 HD sound so that works with Optical.

There will be uncompressed audio and dts ,dolby digital format in audio segment in bluray disc ,try to play it in dts or dd format -some poor optical cable wont sent hd signals...
Try this and give ur output....
