Hi,

Dumb question but still.

1. Can we save Blu Ray (HD) movies from a BR disc to hard disc. How?
2. How can we play it back. Trough the USB port ?(I have Oppo BDP 83 and it has USB port)
3. If not through this than will I need a device like Xtreamer ? or which are the alternates ?

Need some clarity on this please.

1.DVDfab can copy exactly & you can save Bluray files on PC/HDD.
2.not sure that oppo83 reads from USB,ideally it shld.Playing off PC is another option too.
3.WD live,asus play on,HTPC are other options.

You will need a blu ray drive on your pc to copy the image.

The other option is to use a media server in an htpc and connect your oppo to the home network and stream the same.

Can WD Live able to read a 40+ GB file? I dumped couple of DVDs of 8GB each movie to Hard disk and tried to play Video_TS folder. It struggled hard to play them.It get paused for every 30secs and continue playing.

I have played 40 GB file of transformer-2 Blue-Ray dump on my Xtreamer.
It played flawlessly. no pauses.
The file was on the Xtreamer internal HDD though..
haven't tried with USB HDD..I think results will be same..

1. Yes we can save BR movies on HDD, the best way is to create an ISO image for the same using any burning software, like Nero. You need a BR drive in your PC.

2. Now to playback the easist way is to install a virtual drive like ALCOHAL or DEMON Tool. This would create a virtual BR drive in your comp that acts exactly like a physical drive. Insert the BR ISO in the virtual drive and play using Power DVD 10.

3. Yes media players like xtremer or POHD can play BR ISO off the internal HDD.

Playing BR image (ISO,BIN) from a USB usually lacks the required bandwidth. You need to have internal HDD. However 8GB DVD structure should not be a big deal. My POHD is able to play DVD ISO off USB HDD without any problem, but as I said playing a 40+ GB BR ISO off a USB HDD is not possible, for that I have to copy the image on to the internal HDD. It plays flawlessly then......:)

I am not using a PC. I have below components

1) External HDD (USB connectivity)
2) Oppo BDP 83 (It also has a USB connectivity)
3) AVR Denon 2310
4) Output (TV)

Now as I understand I can have Blu Ray content on HDD, can I play it by connecting it to Oppo BDP ?
