Blu-Ray Player as Source

Dear FMs,

I have a Norge 2060 + Boston Acoustics A 26 speaker set up and looking for a good source. I recently had a look at the following in Sale by Owner Section :-

Can you please suggest if this will act as a good source for my set up ?

Please understand first, what is source and what is the purpose of that source(audio or video)
Any digital device which stores digital audio files or play such files has one DAC
inside it..be it mobile phone, CD player, Media player or BD player..

now your intention is to play audio files right...so you have to choose component(player) which has good DAC inside it..or lets say player plus DAC...

you can see in this forum, CD players are there in the market upto...lakhs of rupees and why people are buying expensive DACs also

There are BD players also which has good DAC inside it...like OPPO...

so do some reading on forum and choose the component which has good DAC inside it..if you are just looking for a player to play CDs , then any player or listed LG BD player will do the duty...
but in terms of audiophile world...sky is the limit for refinement..

Try Pioneer BDP-160 or 170, it is really good for the price.

You have a stereo amp and speakers. Why do you want to get a blu ray player? Get a CD player if you want to play CDs or a PC and DAC if you want to play downloaded and ripped files. The latter is the better option in my view. I hope you are not being tempted to buy something just because it is available at a discount. Meanwhile continue your research. This is a great place to get information and advice.

I did some reading on the forum and came across a post where someone has recommended this DAC for playing audio files from the laptop.

Does look good. Have you connected with the member who is using this?

If you have the budget, consider Meridian Explorer, Dragonfly or ODAC.
I haven't heard any, this is only by reading here and elsewhere.

I don't have the budget for the high end DAC for the time being I'm afraid so might start with this and upgrade it lateron.

I have the same amp with norge speakers.
I use my bdp-160 player with them and am satisfied.

i am using bluray palyer for my stereo duties and the results are very good.
more over bluray player having usb input and network capability.
the dac inside the bluray players of some models are very good.
as suggested by members buy a bluray player with good dac and no need to spend extra money on cd player.
i am using OPPO BDP83SE as a source and the results are very nice.
