I think most of the new generation Android mobiles/tabs are Aptx certified and may be even the iPhone 5.

Not necessarily.
My Galaxy Tab2 (GT-P3113) is not supported. In Sony, only Xperia Z Ultra is supported.

Smartphones and Tablets with aptX from HTC, Samsung, Sharp

most of the current crop of phones and past gen phones 2013 are compatible. so it should work with most of them.

also no tab seems to be supported aptx however normal bluetooth streaming will work.

is it just a BT streamer or it has a DAC of its own ?

if NO then how bout using its inbuilt DAC and how much of sonic nirvana does it offer for the price ?
