Hi All,

Just went to CinemaScope at Road No: 3, Banjara Hills besides Chutneys lane to enquire. He is charging 1500/- as Life time Membership fee. Blurays 100/- and DVD's 75/- per day, old movies can be kept for 3 days. He has a good collection of blurays.

Any more bluray rentals available in Hyderabad? Just wanna cross check before taking membership.

Thanks,
Sajjad.

We already have a thread on this topic. http://www.hifivision.com/movies/4038-blu-ray-hd-video-discs-rental-hyderabad.html

Apart from CinemaScope, haven't come across any BD rental shops. Problem with CinemaScope is you have to personally go to shop every time to pick or drop the discs.
You might already know this, but have you consider moviemart.in? even though they run business from Delhi, their Service is fast. You always get the disc(s) on next day even in weekends.

If you are in the city, picking up from the rental shop is easy.

I stay in the outskirts and opted for moviemart.in rental service.

If you take a pack of 96 @6999/-, it will come to around 73 per Bluray disc. You can take up to 4 discs at a time and keep for 15 days. This cost includes delivery and pickup through Bluedart at your doorstep.

If you inform today, they will deliver it tomorrow. Similarly once you finished watching, you can inform them and they will pickup on the next day.

Their collection is also good.

I also have the moviemart.in subscription for 2 BDs at a time for 3999 (2000 refundable deposit and 2000 for 24 BDs rental). They have a couple of problems that I have observed
1, Not all the movie displayed on their list is available all the time
2. You need to maintain a queue of your liking in your account after about a month you will see that the top 3 or 4 items are available in case the same was notr available at the time you added. So plan in advance. seems they make copies after looking at people's demand.

However they have an advantage though which is that the 15 days / 30 days time limit whatever they offer, they are not particular on pickups although they are punctual about delivery. Many a times it had happened that they pickup 6 BDs at one go when I have received 2BDs, watched them and then mark them as ready for return on their website and order fresh ones again but subsequent new BDs were delivered without picking up older ones. Probabaly this happens because they use blue-dart for sipment and picking up multiple at a time saves them shipment charges.

Hi Satya,

Sorry I didn't check your thread about CinemaScope. I didn't know much about moviemart.in, looks good though. Do you have the subscription, how do you rate them?
If there is a delay in delivering movies that are in demand, then that's a problem. But one good advantage is you can keep the BD for 15 days, which is a major plus. Cinema scope, we have to return it in 1 day. So will have to decide between these two.

Thanks,
Sajjad.

I have subscription with them from last 20 months 24BDs@2499/- and can request 2BDs at a time. Delay in delivery will never happen, you will receive the selected BDs in very next day if available readily...but the problem with them is Long waiting time ( Wish list/Queue ) for new releases. They are very lazy in Picking up the discs, last time they picked 20 BDs in one go from me. Similarly some titles could be stuck with other members for months causing long waiting period.
If you want to watch BDs as and when released, go for cinemascope kind of service. If you don't mind waiting, moviemart is best option.
As for my case, I use moviemart for titles I feel are for one time watch, otherwise will buy/import them.

I too agree that availability is an issue

I give them names of 8 or 10 movies and they send 4 movies available in that list.

Availability is always an issue with these kind of online rentals. I had earlier tried BigFlix but rarely got movies that I really wanted to see. They were never available. Eventually I terminated my subscription. I think BigFlix used to display if a movie was readily available or not but MovieMart does not seem to do that.

One question, lets say if I subscribe for the BluRay package and want to rent a DVD instead (say if that particular title is not available for rent at the moment) is that possible?. Of course I agree that I would be charged for the BluRay price instead of DVD but do they have that option.

Lack of availability of titles (freely) is what has been stopping me from buying a bluray player.

I used to rent DVDs from a quite popular rental store called FrizBee in Hyderabad which used to charge heavily but even there they started renting non-original DVDs where audio/video quality used to be poor and subtitles really would not make sense with the movie conversation. Though I paid for lifetime membership, I stopped renting movies from them.

Please check CinemaScope for the quality of BluRay titles they have before you pay for lifetime membership.

If you subscribed for Blu ray Package, You can't even able to add the DVD titles in your queue with your Login credentials.

I guess with moviemart this is possible if you call them up, couple of months back I was looking for a specific BD but was not available they said that what I have in queue is a DVD (I was allowed to add) if I confirm they will send me the DVD no probs from their end. Their advantage is that they are willing to negotiate and talk all the time.
