Hey . . .a long time back I bought a 47 inch LX 9500.Today when I switched on the TV I noticed something like a dead pixel on further inspection I found it to be some kind of an insect, Its really sad to see my flawless display with that bug .I found that it's been sandwiched between the display and the front gorilla glass panel. I don't know how to remove it.I got extended warranty, can I call them for help ?

Thanking you,
Raja Godasi

My sony 26 lcd also had a bug inside the panel but i got it removed from the service guys. These bugs are attracted by the light of the panel but how they get inside is a thing i dont understand. Why dont the companies make them sealproof so that ur hard earned money is not wasted

Anyone know about the warranty coverage of these things???

Warranty should cover defects in materials or workmanship. You would need to present your case that an insect should not be able to work his way inside if the workmanship to seal the panel was performed to generally accepted workshop standards.

Is it CFL? CFL emits infrared. Bugs are attracted to infrared.

LED tv's wont attract bugs as they do not emit infrared.

Last year during bug season before diwali everyones place was covered in dead bugs but no bugs in our place cuz we fit everything with cheap led's.

Maybe get led?

Its a FULL LED TV :(

Ohh My God...Even I have recently purchased a LED TV SONY KDL-40"NX720 and it also has Corrilla Glass.
This bug situation is really wierd and my room also features insects sometime.
Now how to avoid this situation ?
Should I report and ask to Sony in advance that if this problem occurs ...will they be able to resolve it ?

Hi guys,
The service guy paid me a visit and told me that the panel had a problem though am pretty sure it was a bug.He then removed the panel from the TV and Refit it,But in the process made the whole TV a mess, now my panel has ghosting and it is bleeding from the edges. One side has a blue hue. When I asked him about this he told me that he would arrange a panel for replacement. When I called him today he told me that he would call me back when the panel was ready and that I need to take my TV to the service center which is about 70 km away from my home.Doesn't the warranty already cover that service? and Will I run into trouble because the repair guy damaged the panel? what should I do now? My warranty is only till 10th march though I have extended warranty...I also called the service helpline in which the service rep told me that he would put a request to the service centre, which I am pretty sure would call me back to tell me that I have to bring the TV in myself.
Please help me

The only thing I can think of is that the tv has a gap infront of the gorilla glass and thats how the bugs get in. Design defect. They dont design for indian bugs :P

This is not as uncommon as one would think. I think the only way this can be removed is by opening up the back and cleaning the screen. Check with Sony on this. If it is small enough you can tell them that it looks like dead pixels and ask the service person to check it out.

A small correction. Bugs are attracted to ultraviolet.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
