Well I just typed out a long descriptive text of my plans and hit submit but I wasn't logged in so this will be shorter due to the frustration factor. I am new and hope to learn much from you all. In August I bought a 50 inch Panasonic viera st model with a Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver. I am going to upgrade my speaker system. here is what I'm looking at

Definitive Technology

BP8060ST floor standing towers
CS-8040HD Center channel
BP8040ST surround speakers
Super Cube 4000 Subwoofer

I have 100 watts a channel and would have 2 extra open assignable for rear or front high. I would bi-amp floor standing but they aren't able to do so.

I am not sure of ur location but as u are quoting a price in the USD, I will assume u are in the US... This 5.1 has a offer going on it... This full set should cost u less than $2000 from multiple sellers on Amazon... This offer is calid till 31 jan 2013... So whoever quoted u $2800 is taking u for a ride... Check amazon for this 5.1 system...

Also you should look at a better AV receiver than 609 to drive the speakers you selected.
