Hi All,
I have posted this thread before too but seems it's stuck in the moderation. SO posting it Again.

First of I owe a big thanks to members of this forum. My parents have decided to buy a LCD and therefore they gave me the task to search for it. I happened to stumble upon this forum 3 days ago and for me it was a goldmine of informations :) reading about from LED side backlit to SPVA pannel to usage time information :) . So thanks again.

From information here and after seeing televisions at the showroom we have zeroed down to Samsung 32' C630. I have some of the queries in which I want your help::

(1) As many of the members suggested there was no point in Taking C650 as it only provided rudimentary internet features. But my parents were interested about how much rudimentary they are? Can they replace a normal laptop which is used for only surfing etc? Does it support WI-Fi? help in this regard will be really helpful as i was nt able to find info and even the salesman was nt sure enough

(2) How to check the usage hour at the showroom? Can we ask the dealer to show the usage hour there itself at the shop? What's the command for it?

(3) About SPVA panel... What the way to check it at the showroom itself(someone in threads talked about checking for sq01 sq02 stickers but i am not sure). Moreover if that is not there can we ask to change the tv set at the showroom itself before buying? Or it's just Samsung panel lottery :) :)

(4) Do i need a stabliser too ?

(5) To connect my laptop to HDMI port of TV, will I have to buy a chord or it will be there with the TV(sorry seems like a dud question :) but just wanted to be sure)

(6) Any other thing that I should be checking there. We are buying it from Samsung Authorized Dealers in Lucknow and the price quoted is 42-43 k

We also looked for Sony EX 500 but after reading all the comments here and Samsung's capability to play almost all the format we are influenced by it :). But love to know some of the feedbacks on Sony too.

We will be going to buy this LCD tomorrow afternoon(7th). So any replies before it will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

1) NO way can a TV replace a laptop even just for internet surfing. In fact this internet feature on TV's is much like the USB movie playback in TVs. Even the media players with internet functionality are nowhere near laptops, if only for the convenience of typing the URL of any site. Having said that, you can connect your laptop to the TV via HDMI (best method) or VGA.

2)Don't know about Samsung. Owners can better help you in this regard. It is advisable to go to the showroom and pick up the piece yourself, after checking it thoroughly. Many members have had display/used pieces delivered to them.

3) About panel type, etc. PM adder. He is expert in Sony/Samsung. (He is also expert in pointing out faults in LG).

4)You don't need a stabilizer, in the sense that it is not absolutely essential..... but it is recommended.

5)You will have to buy an HDMI cable separately. What's the big deal? It will cost you a few hundred..... nothing compared to the thousands you are going to spend on the TV.

6) The price quoted is way too high. For a 32" LCD (whether Samsung, Cowdung, Sony, Phony, Dhoni, LG, Behenji) you should not pay more than 35K. It is of course a personal opinion, and if you want to spend that amount then you are the best judge.

Sony EX500 has a very reflective glass front, I think. If you go for that then be prepared to combat reflection, like buying thicker curtains, etc, if you don't already have it. As for playback capability of any TV, use your laptop instead.

I hope this reply is not too late in arriving.
