Hey,

Since my sony hifi system has gone bad, I am planning to buy an amp from a YT amp maker having 500k subs. He has provided me with an amp of rating 100W per output with Toshiba resistors.

The specs are:
1. 220V AC Supply Operating
2. 2sc5200 and 2sa1943 100W

The price is Rs. 3,500/-. Should I go for it or spend some more money on a branded amp? I am a student and require a good amp to gift my parents. Any help/advice is appreciated.

Thank you!!

I gotto say, while that amp looks pretty crude, whoever built it took some effort tidying things up.
At 3,500 INR, its a gamble but alteast you have not spent 10,000. Brace yourself for it to sound harsh. Besides, you ain't gonna find any amplifier for that sort of money. Worse case, you'll need to sell it at a loss so prepare yourself for that.

That said, a gift to a parent needs to be something way better. Unless you are seriously cash strapped, I would not buy this.

the guy who makes them is quite knowledgable and I agree, does a wonderful work at wire tidying. Even I am kind of confused to whether go for it or not. Well, I am certainly not cash-strapped as I do work on a stipend and am willing to gift something which will last long.

Any suggestions on which other amp can I go for that has FM radio and Bluetooth too?

Checkout the Aiyima T9 Pro. It sounds refined and great, and not just for the price.

You did'nt mentioned anything about speakers. The Toshiba 5200/1943 transistors looks fake, otherwise such amp for 3.5k is ok. Soundking makes similar Toshiba transistor amp for 8K and so does Norge 1000 Gold for 18K. If they are not much into highend audio, I would recomend you to go for All-in-one solution like any 2.1 system from Obage or F&D.

I got a pair of sony ss-rv900L speakers (3 way speaker ,bass reflex box) from a Hi-fi setup which is not working well now.

The speakers are of 6 ohms each.
The hifi setup was rated as:
Continuous RMS 120+120 watts (6 ohms at 1KHz, 10% THD)
DIN power output (rated): 100+100 watts
Power consumption of the whole system is 220 watts

Norge
Will cost more for sure and any day better than the 3,500k amp

Lets assume it has 25+25 W of clean power, SONY habitually boasts over optimistic ratings for its consumer grade "micro hifi".
Check with the youtuber if he is really offering genuine Toshiba transistors and transformer with copper winding , because at this price its difficult, good transformer (25-0-25 6A ) itself costs around 1500
Unless your home is located near radio tower or u live above 3rd floor, FM reception is usually poor on sthese mall kits due to lack of a proper antenna.
If you are intrested in a little DIY, then similar options are availabnle as kits online

You can start with this. I must say it is quite well made.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
