Hi I m a newbie in this forum but had been a passive reader. The posts here are very useful.I am planning to buy a 40" LED TV had checked prices from different stores here ,alongwith that I checked the prices online (letsbuy.com,infibeam.com)as well and to my surprise the price difference between stores and online is worth mentioning. My question is why is it so and how safe is it to order tv online.Had anyone bought it frm sites like infibeam and letsbuy pls share.

hi! i purchased a 24 inch led of toshiba from infibeam and my experience was fair overall though i had a few glitches.I got my tv for a price difference of 3500 compared with the store price. The purchase and delivery experience was very good. The tv was delivered by GATI and it came in a wooden scaffolding so no chances of damage.I inspected the set for any outward signs of damage before accepting the tv from the courier persons.
inspection showed that i got a set that was imported just 2 months back and was in pristine condition.I got a videocon dth subscription and a 4gb preloaded usb pendrive just like the store though the online site had made no mention of it.I was delighted overall.
I called up the toshiba customer care and a technician was sent for installation of my set.(i had done so already but he just showed me some features). It turned out that the playback of movies by usb was not possible. The tv had no other problems. On calling infibeam they pwere sending GATI people to have my TV shipped back for replacement while the toshiba service people wanted to repair the problem. In any case i did not have to shell out any money.
I accepted repair of the usb card and the tv is now working fine.
I feel that buying online is a safe bet if the service fellows for that company are good in your area as any problems can be sorted out by them. Please do keep a copy of your purchase order at hand though as infibeam sent a blank guarantee card!

It is pretty safe to buy online. I suggest you buy from letsbuy.com, i have bought electronics and they send with very good packing and have transit insurance. But one thing to remember is that you have to open the box and check the package before signing and see if there is no damage and reject the package if there is any damage.

It is a good option to buy online and pretty safe. Go for it. :)

You can buy online for reputed stores and depending on where their warehouses are (although they may not be telling you in advance from where they are going to ship). e.g. If you are in Bangalore buying from Flipkart is low risk and their headoffice and main warehouse is here. If you are buying a large screen Plasma then you can avoid buying online chances of damage in shipment are high as shipping companies in India typically do not take care of delicate items like Plasma which have glass front and should be shipped in vertical condition only. Also check if you will be available for accepting the package yourself and verifying the contents when it arrives. Most courier folks are very reluctant to let you open the package in front of them. Specially if package is in wooden casing which can take a while to open if you have proper tools. Also read reviews of sellers and contact people of their experiences. Specially recently reviews of Letsbuy.com including my personal experience was not good. They shipped me a old TV. After making noise a new one was given. There is always a probability of things going wrong. Be ready for surprises and to spend time and energy if transaction does not go well.

Even I am in the same dilemma. I have decided on Samsung 5 Series 40" LED TV UA40D5500. Letsbuy quotes Rs 56,450 with a free offer of Reliance Digital TV HD. Flipkart quotes Rs 56,470. Flipkart even mentions that the product will be unpacked and installed by a service representative from the manufacturer. I have good experience of buying a few items from Letsbuy too. I enquired in Jyothi's and Girias, who quote Rs 62 k. I am inclined to buy this TV online. Can I go ahead with online purchase or should I wait for new year eve offer? Please advise.

Hello Ravi,
Did you buy it online?
If yes then from whom (infibeam / letsbuy.com?)

I am getting way far better prices from infibeam, but not sure if it is safe. if products are really new or not?

What is your recommendation?
If any one else has opinion pls help.

Regards

Are you getting these from Gaffar Market ??

Hello Neeraj,
I am exploring, i have been quoted 59990 by a dealer, best price, but i would decide after getting price from gaffar.
and if there is a 10k or more difference then only i would think of gaffar.
If you have any advice you are most welcome, as i don't have much experience of gaffar nor for plasma tvs.

Regards
